"I...I could too," she said quietly, in reply to his words. She didn't want this to end. She knew she had issues to deal with, and this would only make things more complicated, but she couldn't deny the way she felt about him any more. She'd tried that before and it just hurt too much. Still, she knew pulling him into this whole messed up situation just wasn't fair.
"Jake," she whispered, looking at his chest, her hands resting there, a frown creasing her forehead. She tried to continue, but couldn't find the words. She stood there a moment longer before shaking her head. "Sorry," she said quickly before turning and running from the cabin. She could still feel Jake on her lips, and it just made the guilt even worse. She should have just kept being his friend until she was in a situation to act rationally, but instead she'd charged in and made things even more complicated than before.
