That touch was endlessly comforting, even if it still left Billy with a bit of a tremor. Before he could speak or chicken out, Billy gripped the page and turned it, his breath catching as he saw his mother. Sure, he'd seen her pictures plenty of times. And he'd even met her, once, back long before he knew who she was in relation to himself. But this... this was how they were, allegedly, going to meet. And it took all the wind out of his sails.
He couldn't help but think back to when he'd read about how Teddy had reacted to meeting Mar-Vell. And indeed, he was having some very similar thoughts. He read quickly, finishing up the next page, and knowing even before his mother spoke, just who she was going to be marrying.
He shut the book, his heartbeat heavy in his chest as he pushed it away, struggling to find the words. Sure, he had his "real" mom and dad. But... they were practically adoptive parents. His birth soul-mother was Wanda. There was so much he wanted to say... so much he wanted to ask and to tell her. But he could barely even put the words into coherent thoughts as he found himself holding tightly to Teddy for comfort.
