A second later and Billy would have interrupted. He was already prepared with an easy out, a "let's keep going," or a quick and believable dismissal of Teddy's need to say anything. But then Teddy had spoken, and for a minute, Billy forgot whether or not he was imagining this.
"...you..." he mouthed, his eyes wide with happiness and surprise as he let the phrase sink in. He loved him. Just like that, Billy had suddenly become fairly certain that he was the happiest guy on the planet, or at least whatever alternate world this was.
"I love you too, Teddy," the mage replied, knowing that more than anything he hoped Teddy knew that. He hoped Teddy liked hearing that in the same way that he did. He hoped it had the same gut-wrenching, world-turning effect on his admittedly emotionally-stunted teenage boyfriend. Because there was nothing Billy wanted more than to make Teddy happy. Well, that and to save the world.
