Cas smiled, had to admire her enthusiasm. He pulled a knife from the drawer and a couple of small plates. He cut two generous slices, slid one towards Jo. “Sorry it’s a little lopsided. Some of it stuck to the bottom of the pan. Guess I didn’t grease it enough. I was in a bit of a hurry…” As soon as he had done with their little chat he started cooking, making sure he had something to offer her, something made with his own hands was preferred. He always liked to have something to offer his visitors and, in special cases, he liked to make them something they couldn’t quite get anywhere else.
“It has melted chocolate in it. I couldn’t do that till I got here. I’ve been trying some new things. We can get stuff here I couldn’t get at home. So… I don’t know what this tastes like. You’re the first to try it.” He didn’t try his own, knowing he could, potentially, take more delight in her reaction. He watched her face closely.
