It was very weird for Riku not to have Sora around... his world seemed quieter without him. Oh, he tried to keep himself busy and not think about Sora.
He decided to go running anyway even though it was already almost noon, he took a long shower, he played a couple rounds of chess with his Aba, he banged out a rather aggressive Mozart piece, took the dogs out to the park and ended up with every kid in the place trying to give the dogs hugs while Riku tried to stretch them... so he just sketched a generic kid in with the dogs. He was still better at the background, but at least the dogs looked okay. The kid looked a little disproportionate to his eyes.
He got a hot dog from a street cart for himself for lunch, and one for the dogs to share. He took them (yes, he took them both) downtown to the pet bakery he and Sora had visited so that the dogs could warm up and have a snack. Just about every girl that came through the bakery while he was there seemed like they had to come over and say hi and pet the dogs. Riku couldn't really blame them; Fiver and Sixer were really nice dogs.
He thought about texting Sora several times, but he didn't want to interrupt anything. After awhile, he headed back home and watched a movie with the dogs on either side. Still, Sora didn't come back. He didn't realize that this was going to take ALL day.
When he FINALLY got Sora's text message, Riku took his school laptop into the living room to mess around on it and wait for Sora to show up. Flora came to get him for dinner at some point, but he told her that he wasn't hungry, much to her concern. He wanted to wait for Sora. It was longer than he liked before he FINALLY heard the door open.
"Sora?" Riku called, slowly getting up off the couch, trying to act casual like he hadn't been waiting impatiently for him to come back.
