It had been barely a day since Graham was released from the hospital for his own injuries and he was back at the hospital for almost the whole of the day trying to cheer up Mandy and keep her in better spirits. He knew, of course, that Adrian was there and keeping a well-trained eye on her, but at some point even with your ‘fiance’ there, you needed a break and that was why he’d played knight in shining armor or whatever the ridiculous expression was. It wasn’t that anyone else lacked the ability to keep her happy or anything of the sort, but everyone needed a new face, everyone needed to know that other people cared about them. That was a given and with how the two had become close after their drunken talk, he’d tried to remain there for her and he would continue to do so, fake leg or not. Eventually, though he’d had to relinquish her back into someone else’s care. Once he had, Graham returned back to the IS safe house and bypassed anyone else that might have stopped him to hear about Mandy in order to go to his room. Normally he might not have had an issue talking to anyone else about her. They were all in their own way worried about what happened. She was one of them, whether she was close mates with the rest or not, and that meant something. Her being hurt brought home the reality for a lot of people and the risks. Once in his room, Graham hung his cloak up and stripped down into a more comfortable set of lounge trousers and a long sleeve shirt. Something more comfortable and loose-fitting against his body. While the healers and the potions he was taking did wonders for how he felt, he had moments of residual pain, twinges, especially in his core that he would feel for the rest of his life from the various nerve and organ damage he sustained. Moving to his bed, he leaned back against the pillows and sighed, bringing his hand up to his head. This whole thing was a fucking mess. “Come in,” Graham spoke when he heard the door sound, whether just it being open or someone knocking he wasn’t sure. But what was the point in denying the company if they wanted to speak with him? |
