Mandy didn't have much to say to any of that. Daphne was so definite in what she was saying. It didn't take much work for the other girl to exude the confidence that had poured out of her when they were in school. It wasn't the same as talking to Su or Padma. For a second, Mandy's heart sank but she pushed it away. Longing after people she'd left behind would do her no favors, not here.
"He's never been unkind to me," she explained, stretching out a little bit. "And he's not that bad, really. Not what I was expecting. I thought you were all the same - cocky, good on a broom but beyond that, you know," she trailed off and shrugged, grinning. "He reads more than me, which is a change. What even happened with you two? Is that weird? Being here together?"
