Mandy sighed - loudly, and turned back to Daphne with gratitude when she'd cast the warming charm over them. She made a little room on her favored oversized chair and sniffled. At least she had a friend, or a stand-in friend, before the end of the world.
"It's just that - I opened my mouth and can't take it back. All things considered, I think it went rather well." A lopsided smile spread across her face and she shook her head, bewildered. "I didn't even think she had it in her, but Pansy asked me to lie to him. I should have warded her," she added, like a good shower afterthought.
"And they're the worst," she added hastily, waving her hand in the air. "Adrian, maybe not - well, it's fine." Drinking was a dangerous idea, especially when one was already in a world of trouble.
