Jessica had no formal training with her abilities, but that was mostly because she'd never wanted to have them in the first place. Earning titles, roles, like Natasha had was completely opposite of what Jessica's life was like. She hadn't been honed for this sort of work. It had been thrust upon her the moment the car accident had unfolded around her...the moment she died. If it wasn't for some crazy, whack job doctor, she would have been as dead as her brother and father. Of course in saving her life, he had gifted her with abilities, particularly strength. She'd had no idea about it until she'd ripped up the bathroom sink in her foster mother's home. After that, she'd never been the same. How could she be? She had power, strength, enough to hurt someone, to break them if she wanted. Of course, there was the flaring temper that came along with it too. Points where she could have broke someone in a fit of anger and not cared...points where she could have been like her mother.
A killer. Jessica Jones could have easily been a killer and in fact, she was one. She'd killed Kilgrave, hadn't she? Granted, most people saw that more as a gift then an actual murder given what he had done, but that didn't change the fact that she had killed someone. That she walked a line in her mind everyday; Jessica held a small sliver of control and it was that control that put her apart from both her mother and from Kilgrave even if in keep it, she had a hard fought to keep her sanity too. She watched Natasha take another generous gulp of whiskey before she continued, the details falling into place as she listened and by the part where Natasha trailed off, Jessica was already taking a generous gulp of her own whiskey. Well, most details were in place.
Even Jessica could tell that Natasha had been stalling at the start of it all, but could she blame her? What she was telling Jessica was not easy and they didn't know each other all that well either. "Damn that space," Jessica replied sarcastically, giving a small, brief smirk from behind her glass. Well, space seemed to be particularly problematic for the Avengers, not necessarily Jessica Jones not yet anyway. Not until Natasha was saying One snap and people just...burnt away. Then, suddenly, space became a huge problem. People could be undone so easily? Apparently, they could and Natasha had seen it. All of it.
The brunette was quiet when the other woman finished. She stared down into her glass, the look in Natasha's eyes vivid in her mind. Letting out a sigh, she downed the rest of the contents of her glass. "I wouldn't have believed it either. It sounds unreal now," Jessica admitted, shaking her head. "Someone can make people just...disappear like that."
