Who Noctis & Lunafreya Where Noctis' place What Seeing each other again When Uh... super backdated... Rating Low
Waking up and finding herself in an entirely different world had been quite jarring for Luna. What was even more troubling was finding out she had not only been there for some time, but that her otherwise fatal wound had been fixed and was completely healed. There was also the matter her of having apparently gone on a mission with a woman named Clarke, and this Thea woman seemed to be familiar with her as well. All of it in combination with the unknown of why her memories of these people and events were forgotten made for high levels of anxiety and concern. Thea had mentioned the amber, but she couldn’t recall being anywhere near anything that resembled amber. She had woken up in a room and spoken with a woman with a tattoo on her face. Whatever answers she had been given then were only enough information for Luna to have an idea that she had been there for a little over a month. Whatever was being kept from her, Luna wasn’t sure whether it was for hero own good or because they didn’t simply didn’t want her knowing.
Had there been an accident that wiped her memories? What could have possibly happened for those select memories to suddenly disappear? How was that even possible?
Finding out that others from Eos were around did put Luna at some ease, although at first she had to admit to herself she had been a little disappointed it hadn’t been Noctis or Ravus. She wanted very much to reconnect with them and finding out neither of them were there had been distressing, even if she was happy to finally have a chance to meet Prompto. There were others of their world to whom she had briefly spoken and it did make this transition a little easier. Perhaps the best news was that both Umbra and Pryna were there and they had been waiting for her when she arrived at her apartment. Being greeted by her beloved dogs brought her to tears. There was so much to take in all at once. Luna viewed this as a second chance at life, to find out who she was outside of Eos, even if she was still driven by a strong sense of duty.
Another comfort had been the discovery of the small sylleblossom garden that Prompto had evidently given her when she’d arrived before. It was still so well kept that coming back to it was no hard task. Perhaps the best news yet was discovering Noctis’ arrival. Admittedly, she was eager to see him again. After all, the last time had been during the fight with Leviathan and she had shielded him with what strength she could muster from Titan’s tidal wave. Luna would do it all over again without a second thought. So much of her life had been to help and protect Noctis until the end, and that was exactly what she had done. So finding out he was there raised her spirits even more, albeit she felt a little nervous about the reunion. With Umbra and Pryna in tow, Luna headed downstairs for a long overdue reunion. She didn’t count Altissia considering he had been unconscious and shortly after… Well, there was neither here nor there, and it didn’t take long for her to find herself outside of his apartment. She knocked on the door, clasping her hands together in front of her while her dogs sat patiently on either side of her.
They had explained what had happened, and yet Noctis still couldn’t fully comprehend it. Not in that he didn’t understand their words, it was simply that he couldn’t exactly recall when he would have been trapped in that weird amber stuff. He’d gotten off the train and then… nothing. He was drawing a blank. And yet, seeing that Luna was there put him at more ease than he should have been. He still had things he needed to do, but giving it up to see Luna was tempting, to say the least.
It only took him a moment to decide that, even if this were a trap, it was worth the risk. He was on guard and ready for whoever he might find on the other side of the door, but when he pulled it open, he found Luna standing in front of him. Luna, who he thought he would never see again. In fact, he was surprised enough by her appearance that he didn’t speak for a moment. He simply stared at her, lost for words. What could he say? She had been dead.
Evidently Luna had already been there for quite some time, but she had no memory of any events from before. Admittedly, she felt badly for not remembering any of the others, especially those with whom she had become acquainted. However, she fully intended to make up for that because Luna didn’t forget a face. She didn’t forget others she had met, even though over the years as Oracle she had met a lot a lot of people. As far as Luna was concerned she had fulfilled her destiny and there was nothing left as far as duty and destiny was concerned. Instead, she had decided to focus on being Oracle because that part of her was still present. She had to learn to be Luna without a destiny. She suspected most people who had found themselves in this place were in the same position.
When the door open Luna felt a pang of nerves. The last time she had seen Noctis he had been unconscious. Certainly he couldn’t possibly remember that. It was still so fresh in her mind, everything from the sound of the waves crashing as Titan and Leviathan fought, the spray of the water as it hit her face. At least she had come to find out her efforts were not all in vain as, according to Prompto, Noctis had received the Ring of the Lucii. She smiled broadly when her eyes met his. “Noctis,” she said happily. Even if he said nothing it didn’t matter. What mattered was they had finally been reunited and that meant the world to her. Without stopping to rethink her actions she closed that space between them and wrapped her arms around him for a hug.
The people Noct had spoken to before mentioned something about him being there before, but he had already written it off as something that didn’t make sense. He knew he hadn’t been there before because he didn’t remember it. He would have remembered being here before, he knew that much. However, he wasn’t sure how Luna was here. He knew she was dead, but maybe it meant he was dead too. Though, he didn’t expect death to feel so much like being alive.
He couldn’t stay silent forever and stare at her like a loser, so when she said his name, he did his best to snap out of it. He managed a single word--”Luna”--before he found himself engulfed in a hug. He didn’t fight it, though. Instead, he wrapped his arms around her as well, rested his head on her shoulder and held her close.
“I… can’t believe you’re here,” he finally said, voicing what was on his mind since she’d messaged him the first time.
Luna couldn’t help smiling. She hadn’t felt so genuinely happy in a long time. So much of their lives had been shrouded in danger and secrecy, using Umbra to send private messages to each other. It was nice to be finally be able to see Noctis without feeling the everwatchful eye of the Empire. She felt free here.
After a few moments Luna realized they couldn’t stay like that for too long and pulled back. She shook her head slowly, “I can’t believe it either, but here I am.” She motioned to his door. “Shall we go inside and catch up?”
Noctis, himself, was still feeling a little wary. Maybe it took some getting used to, but having Luna there was helping his nerves considerably. Maybe it was freeing, or it would be, but he was still worried about what was going on back home. If Ardyn wasn’t here, it meant he was still there, and Noct really wasn’t keen on that. Plus, not having Gladio and Ignis around was… well, he found himself directionless, even though his pride wasn’t fully allowing him to admit that he struggled to function without them.
“Oh, yeah, come on in,” he agreed, pushing all concerns out of his mind. He couldn’t think about that right now. Luna was here, even though Noct thought he’d never see her again. This was different, but maybe a good different.
It still completely baffled Luna that she had been there for longer than she remembered. She remembered so clearly the events of home, her last few days in their world, and the tension leading up to those final moments. It was hard to forget. Luna did know that by being here it meant that she wouldn’t be dead back home. And maybe it was selfish, but she didn’t want to be sent back to her inevitable death. She was happy here, with this new start, and with Noctis to boot!
“Thank you,” Luna smiled a little more broadly and stepped inside, glancing around to take in her surroundings. She was curious what he had done with his own space, assuming he had already gotten around to decorating. It was so different from home, but somehow knowing that this was Noctis’ place she felt comfortable and welcome.
It was kind of weird having Luna in his apartment. Not weird in a bad way, just different. Just sitting there and talking to her was amazing. Their correspondence for a long time had been only through letters passed back and forth using Umbra. This was better, though. Talking with her face to face, he found that he had a lot to say about how things were going up to the boat ride to Altissia. Then… he didn’t want to say anymore than that. He didn’t want to relive anything that happened after, not just about her, but Ignis and then Prompto. He just didn’t know how to bring it up.
Ultimately, he asked her mostly about what was going on in this new place. He wished he could cook something for her, but that wasn’t a skill he had ever thought he would need. Ignis always cooked, and Noct hadn’t considered that maybe one day Ignis wouldn’t be there.
“This is still so weird,” he concluded, leaning back on the couch, feeling mentally exhausted.
