CLINT BARTON, EDMUND PEVENSIE, OLIVER WINCHESTER (NPC), JOSH SUMMERS
G | MOMENTS FROM THE TIME RIP PLOT
Clint + Nate Barton A few days before Mother's Day 2373
Clint, tongue sticking out between his teeth in concentration, hammered a nail into a wooden support. “Think we should be done by Sunday,” he said once the nail was in place. He brushed sweaty hair out of his eyes and looked over at Nate. He still hadn’t gotten enough of doing that. This wasn’t the little toddler he had left behind or even the active boy he’d imagined chasing after during that five year hell. His youngest was a teenager well on the way to becoming a young man to be proud of, and Clint was. “I want to have it ready for Mother’s Day brunch. What do you say we build an awning in case this rain doesn’t stop?”
Edmund + Nova Pevensie Mother's Day 2373
Edmund doubted any but a few of the SadTech community had not been thrown for a loop when BNU’s hostages turned out to be theirs. Time travel was still fiction for most of them. There was a certain complicated mix of comfort and trepidation inspired by the realization that a future version of himself would give his name to Rose’s daughter. Nova, though not a blood relation, was clearly Rose’s daughter, from her boundless energy to her choice of party costume. Edmund had tried to watch for anyone showing an excessive interest in his daughter at the Awakening Day party, but he’d been marginally distracted by dancing with his daughter’s mother...
It took an active effort to draw his mind away from that memory to the current moment, waiting in the queue outside a Kingston ice cream shoppe. “It’s not the traditional Mothering Sunday,” he said to Nova. “These Americans are always late, after all.” Just a minor tease, although come to think about it, wherever she had grown up, Edmund was not certain where Nova had been born. Some of the future generation had been a bit chary about sharing some details (Others could not be concealed, but Edmund had given his word not to injure his brother-in-law-to-be provided Mordecai lived up to his responsibilities appropriately quickly. His niece did need a father, after all). Of course, Ed was curious, but he was trying to focus on enjoying the gift of Nova’s presence.
“But I think R - your mother will prefer this version of brunch anyway.”
Sam + Oliver Winchester May 2373
Oliver had been fairly content to coast through his visit in this time period. He was confident that the scientists would figure out a way to send them back eventually. SadTech had always been the forefront of scientific discovery and technology, and that was because of the original generation refugees, after all. It was a little strange to see his parents all new and fresh and his Uncle Edmund still so uptight (all right so that hadn’t entirely changed, but somewhat), but once they got out of that trap on Rhea, he’d kind of enjoyed the adventure.
That had been before the hostilities had ratcheted up again, and Lillie and Mari had gotten so hurt. Now, well, call him a coward, call him selfish, but he kind of just wanted to go home with his room and his books and parents who knew him properly. He was willing to fight if he had to, and he knew how - neither side of his family would have allowed him to grow up without that knowledge - but he’d really rather not.
On the other hand, even if his parents didn’t know him yet, Oliver knew them, so he still found himself knocking on the door to his father’s office hoping, if a little awkwardly, that his dad might have some words of wisdom. “Uh, hello?”
Josh + Cassidy Summers May 2373
It was kind of his fault, Josh had to admit. Twins were definitely a Summers family trait, and Caitlin would have the work of carrying them. He was just glad Frost had decided not to preemptively punish him for it. He was pretty sure Cait wasn’t seriously angry at him, but even if he did end up in the doghouse for a few weeks - or years - he had to say it was worth it. The current project was necessary - both to understanding BNU’s plans and to potentially return the strays to their own times and places - but Josh knew he’d miss his girls when they left. For that reason, he’d asked Cassidy to help him with a little yard work.
