WHO: Rey Skywalker & Poe Dameron WHAT: Rey's got a belated birthday gift for the pilot WHERE: Wherever all the speeders are kept WARNINGS: None?
It felt a lot to take in still, even as the weeks had passed. Rey knew how to adapt, she’d learned to well enough, in fact she came to learn most of those involved in the Resistance were not so different. They might not have grown up orphaned in the desert, but they were so ready to see the First Order fall, and support their fellow rebels that most of them seemed to hit the ground running, Poe in particular tended to lead the way, even in the days during the war he hadn’t been so certain of himself and she was glad to have him around.
Wandering had helped Rey learn her way around, gradually things were becoming more familiar, comfortable in ways. She’d even had a little assistance from a roommate in getting some new clothes, a choice that was more common to this world, and it’s time, the jeans she rather liked, quite comfortable and still very practical too.
So Poe’s birthday had come and gone, and though there’d been a gathering around the day, Rey hadn’t quite finished the gift she’d begun working on for him, it’d taken her close to the whole month and then some it was finally done. She’d have to thank Jaina again too, it wouldn’t have come together without her and the Speeder races, Rey wouldn’t have had the idea, or even really known how to get her hands on the parts either. Really she thought he wouldn’t mind the lateness, but mostly she thought he’d appreciate a speeder than didn’t fall to pieces at top speed, or ..you know, caught fire or something.
She wasn’t even certain he’d like it, but Rey truly hoped so.
Rather than send him a text about it, she instead headed over to his apartment, knocking lightly on the door - if Poe wasn’t in, they might at least be able to tell her where he’d headed. “Poe? It’s Rey.”
