Listen, it wasn’t like Bellamy didn’t know that sometimes you had to leave people behind. He’d done it before. He’d told people they had to do it before. He’d paid the price for it more than once. It wasn’t like he didn’t know that and fully believe you had to do what was better for the survival of the group than the individual. But see there’s knowing something, knowing something, and then being rational enough in the face of literally having died only to be reawoken to remember fucking dying.
That’s just a whole different set of emotions, you see.
Bellamy was much less of a hot head than he used to be. Between time back up on the Arc and Echo and his time here in New York - he’d calmed down a lot compared to the kid who had crash landed with 100 other kids on a drop ship into the middle of what they could only hope was a no-longer-irradiated forest. (Turned out it was still pretty radioactive, perks of being so close to the sun for a few generations.) But, again, ya know - just a totally different set of emotions basically being brought back from the dead. Now, Bellamy considered himself lucky as fuck. No time felt like it had passed for him and he was pretty sure that was for the best. He wasn’t too keen on finding out what was on the other side.
Lucky or not, Bellamy had some business to handle.
He was pretty sure Jacen knew exactly what was coming, either the other man let it happen (Bellamy wasn’t stupid enough to think that a Jedi wouldn’t have felt that level of anger approaching, especially not one normally as tuned in as Jacen was) or that he just got distracted by the drinking game or what. Either way - it wasn’t going to end well for Jacen.
Grabbing the other man swiftly by the shoulder, Bellamy landed a punch square to Jacen’s nose before the other man could actually react. Stepping back immediately, he pointed at him, “Fuck you.” He said before walking off to go find a drink.
Jacen had been distracted by the game, and part of him had honestly thought Bellamy might be less apt to just show up and deck him in the face if he was surrounded by other people. He'd gambled that one and lost it. He'd known it was coming though, he wasn't shocked by any definition of the word and Jacen cleared his throat as he brought a hand up to his face, wiping a little blood away from the corner of his lip - Bellamy had gotten him square in the dead center of his face. He was pretty sure his nose was probably broken - but its not like it was the first time or anything. "Well, deserved that." He said, clearing his throat again before simply sitting back down to the game of Never Had I Ever.
