I will be reccing this in my weekly recs at viewfromthehall on LJ this weekend, and the text below is what I just wrote in my notes as I bookmarked it... Kudos, mystery author. Definite kudos.
I'm not even sure where to begin with this one. It packs so much into such a small space, neatly delineated by Hermione's spell. It had me close to tears at the end. The characterizations are so well drawn with such spare words. The pacing is perfect. The idea that people are broken after the war (and the line about not fast forwarding to the epilogue is BRILLIANT) is so right. It is a look into a future that could be for the characters of the Potterverse, and while it isn't perfect, it isn't entirely bleak in the end either. There is hell, and there is getting through it, and the journey is so wonderfully told here.
