"Advertisement printed in the Daily Prophet 1978" for "Nancy Nightshade"
Title: Advertisement printed in the Daily Prophet 1978
Artist: Miranda Pokeweed ([info]kath_ballantyne)
Recipient: Nancy Nightshade ([info]inamac)
Character(s)/Pairing(s): None
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Summary: Found in the back section of the Daily prophet is an advertisement for Snape's Potions and Serums.
Artist's notes: I realised after searching for 60s and 70s ads that they were all wrong for what I wanted and it took me a long time to realise that wizards, even in Harry's day use printing presses, not printers.

Please note: This artwork is hosted on a temporary website. If linking to this artwork please link to this post and not the artwork itself to ensure you don't end up with broken links after the fest ends. It also ensures you have the header information, of course. Thank you.

Ooh, I love these types of fanart. They tell a whole story through a single object or picture, but in a very indirect way that lets you imagine pretty much whatever you want with it. I have plot bunnies springing up just looking at it!

Two gifts! You are spoiling me!

I am so pleased that you tackled this idea. The style is perfect for Snape - I can just see him approving the proofs (with a little sniff about the accuracy of the bottle style - or something equally niggling). I do like the symmetry of the design. The use of herbs and the way the arch reflects the (film canon) shape of Snape's office. The 'logo' of the motar and pestle is a lovely touch. This is one of those things where one keeps seeing more detail.

It's very Wizardy - I'd love to see more of the page.

Thank you.

Nancy

This is gorgeous! I absolutely love the style and composition, especially the plant framing the potions.

Oh! I love Art Nouveau ! And you're right, it would definitely be the kind of add the wizard world would use!

This looks so cool! I love Harry Potter! It never crossed my mind that wizards used a printing press. That makes the Daily Prophet seem so much more awesome! Maker me want to be a wizard even more.
