Thank you, Lavinia! This is lovely -- just the right hint of romance, but nothing overly sentimental, not for these practical, matter-of-fact people.
I love the Poppy/Minerva interaction. I think this is exactly what they would sound like -- old friends, accustomed to being blunt with each other, yet clearly caring. The humor is spot-on for both of them. I particularly love the idea that Poppy would recommend a Muggle self-help book. . .and that Minerva would read it. All her reactions are totally IC, and I can see exactly why most of the suggestions wouldn't work for her.
"Closure?" Minerva repeated, as if she'd just tasted something slightly sour. Haha! I can just hear her.
"Impressive deduction, Minerva," he replied And of course, I can just hear him.
And you create a beautifully atmospheric Spinner's End -- a metaphor for what's happened to them all. They're all coming to pieces a bit, they're all personally dilapidated. Yet they're still standing, no matter how much they may lean, and the familiar bits are still there.
