Balthazar seemed to bring out something in Arriane that she hadn’t realized existed. She had built up a reputation of being a little snippy and hardly ever showing any sort of vulnerability. It would seem that the current situation, the war and all that went on nowadays, would have called for the tougher Arriane. It would have made sense for her to have a sharp tongue and a guarded heart. This didn’t make sense, but she didn’t mind.
“You’re pretty fascinating yourself.” She nuzzled his head with hers and smiled.
“Never leave me.” She sighed. The closer they got the more impossible the notion of being without him seemed.
