Running away probably wasn't the smartest decision. He was relatively sure it wasn't a logical one either. As he threw a few belongings into his bag he realized that it was a panicked decision that was entirely based in emotion and the tumultuous waves of teenage hormones that seemed to govern his actions since he'd taken the cure. Those same hormones made it entirely easy for him not to care but continued to spiral down a darker path. He wasn't crying and he'd be eternally grateful that he wouldn't show up on Alaric's door step like that. He was all ready hurting. There was no need to add embarrassment to his list.
Immediately after Klaus' post, Stefan had gone through the house grabbing for pictures, gifts, or hand written letters that had accumulated during their year together. It had taken longer than he thought it would and he assumed he'd managed to clean it all up but couldn't be too sure. He wouldn't put it past Klaus to have a hiding place or two he didn't know about. While that was problematic (especially with this other Klaus who wasn't his and who didn't have these memories) he had to hope that maybe those hiding places wouldn't be found by him either. Part of leaving the house was to make things easier on a Klaus and Caroline who didn't know what he knew. Another part of it was to maybe save himself some heart ache or anger. If he was out of the house and not living with the memories of a man this Klaus wasn't... maybe he wouldn't be upset and they could slowly become friends again. It was a lot to hope for but he hoped it would be easier without constant (or in Klaus' case confusing) reminders of what just wasn't there anymore.
Unfortunately, the idea to steal pieces of their year together had taken up more time than he would've liked. Without his vampire speed or senses to help him along he was just shoving a suit case into his own car when Caroline pulled up with Klaus and, he assumed, Klaus' daughter in tow. He cursed beneath his breath but attempted to ignore the arrival as best he could. While he tried to remain calm on the outside, the erratic (and foreign to the two arrivals) beat of his heart gave him away.
