Who: Adam Milligan What: Considering his options while exploring the creepy house Where: Random hallway of said creepy house When: July 4th, extremely early morning. Status: Technically open if anyone wants in but otherwise it's a complete narrative Rating/Warning: Low
Adam was going to assume that most people weren't given a choice in the whole vampire thing. If they were would anyone really be so eager for the change? The few days he'd asked for hadn't done much for Adam except highlight everything he was going to miss. Everything he'd no longer be able to be part of. No more fights with Dean, no more tentative conversations with Sam, no more listening to Dr. McCoy bitch. No more sunlight, food, or work. He was going to have to give it all up. In a sense it really would be like dying all over again... except that he'd be alive after it happened and he'd be completely aware of the things he was missing out on. Maybe he'd choose to turn off his emotions too. He couldn't miss anything if he couldn't feel anything.
As bleak as everything looked there was a bright spot, however. There was Damon. It was probably stupidly human of him to think in terms of the older man. There was absolutely no guarantee that Damon would want him to stick around after the transformation. Hell, there was no guarantee that Damon even wanted him around now. Adam hadn't actually heard much from him in the days since he'd been given this terrible choice. The vampire had actually made it pretty clear that Adam's fate rested solely upon his whim. If Damon felt like it he'd be back. If Damon felt like it he'd turn the younger man. If Damon felt like it he'd keep Adam around. If. As the days stretched on it was beginning to look more and more likely that Damon had rescinded his offer.
So... what did he do now? Back in Lawrence (because, wherever they were, it certainly wasn't Lawrence) he'd had the option of hiding with Torchwood for awhile. The wards and spells they had up seemed to be doing a good job of keeping him safe thus far but there was no guarantee it'd work. Dean's plan, of course, was to find some way to kill the hellhounds that were going to constantly come after him now that Damon's contract had been broken. No matter how unlikely the idea (Dean claimed there was a way to kill them but Adam had never read anything about it) it left him in the same position as if he remained in Torchwood. He essentially became a prisoner or a fugitive. He'd spend the rest of his natural life running until he made a wrong move or until he actually died. At which point he'd still be dragged down to Hell no matter the circumstances. All that running would be for nothing. He was doomed no matter what side of the fence he stood on.
Crowley had been quiet so far but he knew that didn't mean anything. The King of Hell was simply biding his time until he could act. He obviously wouldn't make a move while Jessie was having his fun. Which could mean that Adam was safe until Jessie was bored with them... whenever that may have been. It did, however, bring him to another line of thought. What if he simply accepted what was coming without a fight? The contract had been broken and it was starting to look like Damon wasn't coming back. What if he just gave up? Adam didn't really want to spend the rest of his life in Torchwood or trying to kill waves of hellhounds and then hoping they got lucky enough to gank Crowley. So... what if he just let go? What was he really holding on to.
"God damn you, Damon." he sighed as he moved to push one of the random doors open. Maybe he'd come back as a demon.
