Who: Susan Bones & Open
Where: Library
What: Susan is attempting to study
When: Before dinner
Rating; G I would assume
Status: Incomplete

Cough, cough, that was all Susan kept hearing these days. With two sweaters on she felt just about the right temperature, and two pairs of tights. She had on her uniform still but with the extra layers, if anything it made her look healthier as Susan was on the skinny side. Her bag was slung on her shoulder as she shuffled down the hallway with her hair falling into her face, she gave up on pushing it away because every time she coughed it just came back. She hoped the librarian wouldn't be annoyed with her coughing but she had to get out of the common room and study. She had charms to worry about among other things. At least Herbology was going well.

She finally saw the library doors and she wandered in looking around for an empty table. She spotted one near the corner and just sat down dropping her bag onto the table and coughing in the process. She put her hands on her head loathing the headache that was pounding there. She really should be going to the hospital wing for a potion not sitting here in the library reading. She needed to study.

She opened up the books after pulling them from the bag. She started flipping through her pages looking at the words. Susan placed her head down on the books and groaned before coughing. Maybe she should just go to the hospital wing.

Sam wasn't usually a nosy person, or maybe she was, but today she was bored and perhaps that made her a bit more curious than usual. She'd been attempting to study when a girl she recognize by name and face came in to the library and sat at a table near her. The trouble was that transfiguration was boring and hardly holding her attention and the girl kept coughing. Naturally, it had Sam wondering why and in typical Sam fashion she got to her feet, leaving her things at her own table and pulled a chair out at the girl's table.

Sitting down, Sam tapped her fingers on the table. "Excuse me," she began, leaning forward slightly and looking intently into the face of the girl who had her head on her books. "Susan, is it?" She asked, since though she knew the girl's name, she'd never actually been introduced to her.

A voice broke her thoughts causing her to open her eyes and then she heard the fingers on the table. She was surprised to see a face come into her view. "What?" She asked as she sat up and looked at the girl. "Yeah my name is Susan." She knew the girls face but the name escaped her for the moment, but this she would put onto the fact she was sick and had a bounding head. She sat staring at the girl. "Samantha right?" She asked coughing in the midst of her words and looking down at her books again. What did this girl want? Had she fallen asleep? Or was she in her spot? Susan went through the endless possibilities till she realized she was staring at the girl.

Immediately Sam smiled, extending her hand in case Susan wanted to shake it. Either way, she didn't really care. "Yes, I am. But you can call me Sam if you'd like."

The smile still on her face, though a little less exuberant, Sam continued talking, "Sorry to bother you, but I noticed your cough and I was just wondering if you've ever tried these little muggle medicines you suck on like candy. They really help, and I happen to have some in my bag as I just got over a bit of a cough myself." With a shrug, Sam finished talking making a half hearted gesture toward the table where her book and bag lay waiting for her return. It was a bit of an odd thing, to go up to someone you didn't know and offer them muggle cough medicine, but Sam was just like that. She had a habit of helping people, or at least trying to, in odd ways and in general of just doing things a bit differently.

"Alright, Sam it is." Susan said with a huge grin as she curled some hair behind her ear. She looked up at Sam wondering what she wanted but as Sam continued to speak she listened and was very grateful. The thought of muggle cough candies as a welcome one to Susan as she knew her grandparents used them all the time. "You know I don't have any but I just wrote my mum for some from my grandparents but haven't heard back." Susan was definitely grateful for the offer. "So Yes I would love a couple if you can spare more than one." Susan just hoped her own supply would arrive soon.

Without saying anything more Sam was on her feet again and at her table in seconds. She glanced back over her shoulder and asked, "Do you mind if I sit with you?" Her voice was a bit loud and she got several glares from studying students, but she just gave them a bright smile in return. Then, without waiting for Susan to answer, Sam gathered her things and deposited them at Susan's table, sliding into a chair.

Rummaging through her bag Sam found a handful of the cough candies and in the process of giving them to Susan spilled the majority of them on the table. With a sheepish grin Sam said, "Sorry 'bout that." She fell silent for a moment, pushing the fallen medicine toward Susan. "I don't need them. You can have them all."

Susan watched as Sam rushed over to the table she had been previously sitting at, admittedly Susan had not noticed her upon her arrival but then she had not been looking for her. She was about to say of course Sam could sit with her when the girl was already moving to sit with her. Coughing once more she watched with anticipation as Sam pulled a handful of cough candies from her bag.

"Thanks," Susan said as she picked up one candy pulling it from its wrapper looking rather sheepish as it crinkled. She popped it into her mouth sucking on it feeling like it was already working. She then scooped the remainder of the candy into her bag. "Thank you once again, I am sure the rest of them are thankful." She motioned to the students in the library.

"Maybe they are, maybe they aren't," Sam said glancing around at the various students but not really bothering to really look at any of them. She gave a slight shrug. "Just so long as your cough gets better so you feel better, that's all that matters."

One of her hands shot out and touched a book in front of Susan. "What are you studying?" Sam asked as she tried to get a look at the cover of the book. "I was doing Transfiguration, but it's hardly my favorite class so I figured, why continue being bored with it if I could come possibly make a friend." As usual Sam's voice was light, her words a bit fast but carefully spoken so they could be heard clearly and properly. She was a natural talker, and if given the opportunity she would talk forever.

Normally Susan would be alright with a talker, but with the headache and the general feeling of sick it didn't mix well. Susan just smiled as she sucked on her candy hoping that she looked like her normal cheerful self and was listening. As the girl reached out to touch the book and she asked what Susan was studying Susan's hand reached out to her book. "Charms," she said softly as the cough candy bounced around in her mother clanking against her teeth. "Transfiguration is fun, but hard." Susan wasn't in transfiguration but she knew just how hard it could be.

Susan brushed her hair from her face and smiled at Sam. She was really nice but she talked quickly, but maybe that was just Susan in her state of mind right now. Susan shifted in her seat and smiled at Sam as she closed her book, obviously no studying would be done. "What do you do for fun?" Might as well get to know her right.

Sam watched Susan close her book, and if she were anyone else she would probably apologize for bothering her, or cutting into studying time. But the way Sam saw it, Susan hadn't been studying anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem? Right? And Sam sure did love to talk, about herself, or anything really so Susan's question was the perfect chance for her to do so.

"Muggle things," Sam said with a big smile. "Or going on adventures. Do you do that often?" Of course, adventure could describe a lot of different things in a lot of different ways. The way Sam meant it was nearly always to describe something reckless and a little on the strange side.
