Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Katie and Ken
What: Exploring and being cute? I'm guessing....
Where: Glasgow, Scotland
When: Mid afternoon
Rating: TBA
Status: Incomplete

Katie had managed to drag Ken out to Scotland for the day. She had a meeting in the morning for the Magpie's, but the rest of the day was off. It wasn't hard to get Kenneth to go with her. He never seemed to mind spending time with her. He always managed to make her smile the second she saw him, things were just perfectly comfortable with him. So she let him sit with the marketing girl while she finished her meeting. Afterwards she dragged him to Glasgow. Katie had been spending a lot more time in Glasgow ever sense she was with the Magpies. She was starting to really love Glasgow. Things were really starting to really sink in with Katie. She spent more and more time with Kenneth, she still thought about the simple fact that he said 'love' in his Christmas gift. She'd talked to Alicia about it, but never mentioned it to Kenneth.

She was holding his hand walking in Alexandra Park looking out over the duck pound. Katie stopped walking, they hadn't really seemed to say much for a good 15 minutes, not that she minded, Katie liked not saying a single word sometimes. She got to spend time with him, that was all that mattered. She slowed to a stop watching a little animal run across the frozen pound. She turned giving him a very serious sort of look. It was a thoughtful, sort of nervous, sort of excited kind of look. "I think I'm falling in love with you." She'd been thinking about it for a couple weeks now, well ever since Christmas, and well the time lately was just sort of exactly what she'd dreamed about love being. Maybe it was too early, they hadn't been together that long. But hadn't she heard, when you know, you know.

If there was one thing Ken didn't mind doing, it was spending time with Katie. All she'd had to do was ask for him to accompany him to Glasgow and he'd said yes. It was near impossible for him to deny her anything that she wanted, and going to Scotland sounded like fun. He didn't see how it couldn't be fun, and from the look of it so far he found it absolutely beautiful, though it paled in comparison when he thought of Katie and how she was the most radiantly beautiful thing he'd ever seen. There really was no comparing.

For the most part as they'd walked, Ken had been lost in his thoughts, thinking about their surroundings, and about Katie. It was a mix of two things he loved most: being outside and Katie. It seemed natural for Ken to think of her in terms like that, using the word love. It was simple. But when Katie stopped walking, giving him a look that he thought clearly stated something was wrong, though how he could have missed the excitement thrown in is a wonder. In an instant all manner of terrible things entered his head: she wasn't happy with him, she wasn't feeling well, someone in her family had gotten hurt. They were all kind of ridiculous things for him to jump to, which he saw when she spoke.

The smile that broke out on his face was so big that it literally hurt his cheeks, but that didn't matter. All that mattered was that Katie had just told him that she thought she was falling in love with him. It was simple the way the words tumbled out of his mouth, "Well, I know I'm in love with you." The hand that wasn't holding hers lifted to touch her cheek very lightly as his eyes traveled over every aspect of her face. He truly was in awe that she could be so wonderful. He almost kissed her, but held himself back, instead touching her hair softly.

"And here you had me worried someone'd died, love," he teased, finally giving in and kissing her first on her cheek, then on the lips. He didn't know if saying he knew he was in love with her was the right thing, but how could it not be? When you felt it, you had to say it, had to show it, right? It was simple for Ken, so simple to say it, feel it and show it when it came to Katie.

Katie would never think of herself as wonderful as he seemed to think she was. Katie was simply herself. She was simply the girl that loved to play Quidditch, the girl that had thought she lived more in a shadow in school. the quiet of the three Gryffindor Chasers. The one that was simply there, she'd never thought of herself as the one that really stood out in a crowd. Kenneth made her feel like she stood out though, he always managed to make her feel special, made her feel remarkable. She was a little bit shocked when he told her that he knew that he was in love with her. Katie wasn't there yet, but she was getting pretty damn close to it.

Katie had always been scared of love, it meant a lot to her, love wasn't something that came easily to her, but she knew perfectly well that she had never felt this safe in her life. She'd never wanted to spend that much time with someone in her life. She hadn't really dated that many people, but she never really let that many people in. When she finally let him in, she was shocked at how easy it was. It shocked her how easy it was to stay calm around him.

Katie laughed slightly as he said he thought someone had died. "No. I just -" She didn't get it all out as he kissed her. She didn't need to get it all out, she was happy with just the kiss. She dropped his hand to wrap her arms around his neck. She didn't let the kiss end. Perhaps it was just the way that things were supposed to be after you admitted that you might be falling in love with someone.

"I take that back, I'm in love with you." She said kissing his jaw line. She didn't think about it when she said it hadn't even noticed the words had left her mouth until she blinked a few times. "I said that out loud right?" She asked laughing.

That was another thing Ken loved about Katie. He absolutely loved kissing her, holding her, being as close together was physically possible. It was like he just couldn't get close enough, so when she wrapped her arms around his neck, he certainly didn't object. Her words surprised him, as he hadn't really been expecting for her to ammend her statement, though when she asked if she'd said it out loud he had to laugh. "I promise, I won't be hurt if you want to retract that and pretend you didn't say it out loud."

It felt good to laugh with her, and good to hear her say that she loved him, whether or not it was in the form of an 'I think I'm falling in love with you' or an 'I'm in love with you.' It just didn't matter to Ken. He could tell how she felt in the way that she was around him. Completely natural and carefree. It was the way he felt around her as well. For all the other girls he had dated, it hadn't been like this. With the most recent before Katie, things hadn't been near so comfortable. It just hadn't felt nearly as right. But this did feel right, so much more so than he had thought possible.

That was saying a lot, because loving did come naturally to Ken. It came as naturally to him as breathing did. Even when he was very small, he had the kind of heart that loved easily and without judgement. Most kids were that way, but the difference was that it stayed with him as he got older. Where most got jaded, Ken just found it easy to not be, to allow himself to be taken along on the currents of life. So, it'd been easy to love and he thought that he'd known what true love was, but he'd been wrong. What he'd felt for those before Katie could never match what he felt for her now. It was a feeling he couldn't quite describe, even to himself when he thought about it, but he liked it.

It took him a moment to realize that he'd just been staring at Katie, not saying anything, and he blushed. Ducking his head slightly, his expression turned to one of absolute seriousness. "Now, tell me, are the squirrels here really as terribly vicious as I've heard?" It was silly question, because he'd never heard anything about vicious squirrels in Glasgow, and certainly not the park they were in, but what was the point in life if you couldn't joke around? Furtively, and trying not to smile at Katie, Ken glanced around before asking, "You think it's safe for us to be here like this?"

Katie smiled at him softly. "I'm not going to pretend I didn't say it out loud. And I don't want you to either." She said as if it were a silly question to ask to keep something like that hidden. No, she'd said it, it was going to stay that way. After all she wouldn't have said it if she hadn't meant it. She was positive that she didn't want to take that back. Even if she was scared at the idea of love, and often it made her want to run away. At the moment all she wanted to do was stay in his arms. That alone scared a little, but it was a comfortable fear. She was comfortable knowing that she'd admitted to loving him, when he'd told her the same. How could that be a bad thing? It just flat out wasn't a bad thing at all.

Katie hit his arm lightly when he started going on about vicious squirrels. "Have you hit your head?" She teased kissing his collarbone before looking back up at him. "You have haven't you? Have you been reading something a bit off? Should I be worried about you?" She teased laughing. "But in case you are right. I think we could go find a safe place hidden somewhere." She said laughing turning around in his arms leaning against him. He was warm, comfortable, and safe. That wasn't something she was used to.

"Come on, before the one on the pound attacks." She figured playing along wouldn't hurt she started to walk forward her hands slipping behind her and into his front pockets. It wasn't something she'd really thought about when she'd done it. It came oddly naturally to her. She could only hope that he wouldn't mind. She didn't see a reason why he would. They had just admitted to being in love right? So maybe the few signs like that weren't such a bad thing.

It made Ken happy to hear that Katie didn't want to take back what she'd said. If she had, he wouldn't have been sad really, but it would have brought his mood down a few notches. But now that he heard that she meant it, that she wasn't going to be weird, or say it was a slip of the tongue and take anything back, it made him all the more ecstatic.

"Hit my head?" Ken asked, looking at her a bit quizzically. "Love, you've been here with me the whole time. Unless you've been beating me bloody senseless and obliviating my memory then I don't think it's a problem with having hit my head," Ken laughed. He liked the feel of her leaning against him, of how she fit perfectly in his arms. The side of his face pressed against where her ear was, her hair tickling his cheek.

"Which, that one there?" Ken whispered, looking around and eyeing each squirrel he saw a bit warily despite the fact that they didn't scare him at all. His sister did have an unnatural fear of them, but not Ken. He just found them cute. All thoughts of squirrels were taken from his mind as Katie slipped her hands into his pockets. It was such a simple gesture, but one that conveyed such familiarity and comfort that it made him smile brightly.

Katie laughed. "Maybe I have." Of course she hadn't, but it was sort of funny to think about though. Katie would never do anything to hurt him, that wasn't exactly what someone in love wanted to do. She shut her eyes for a moment as she felt his breath near her ear. Katie normally wouldn't know how to react to being so close to someone, but for some reason Ken was easy to be close to. She just turned her face slightly to kiss his cheek for a moment.

Katie nodded. "Yes that one. It's been watching us for a while now." She said with mock seriousness. Actually it had been watching them, probably just for food, but why not play along with the scary squirrels theory. They weren't really an animal Katie thought much about. She found them sort of amusing, and some were totally adorable, some where just a bit odd. The one on the pound leaned closer to cute for Katie. Katie loved animals, probably not as much as Kenneth did, but she did love them.

She blushed slightly as she kept her hands in his pockets. At least her hands weren't going to get cold anymore. She looked down smiling for a second.
