…but you seem like more of a decent bloke than I thought a Slytherin could be.

Teddy wasn't sure if he should be insulted or elated at such a declaration. For propriety's sake, he found it rude to write such a statement even if the overall content was meant to laud the recipient. After all, it basically told Teddy his House was filled with prats with him being one of the few exceptions. Or possibly the exception. On one hand, Teddy was grateful to be judged on his own merit, but on the other he felt the latent insult on behalf of his House. For that, he was glad Megan Jones was his own Snowflake. He didn't know her well, but Hannah adored her and she had always been polite to him so Teddy was looking forward to knowing her better. A small bouquet of flowers in hand, he tapped her shoulder. Oy, this part was always hardest. Teddy had been raised to be polite, but going up to 'strangers' still made for an awkward young man. "Happy Christmas from your Secret Snowflake." Well, not bad for a boy who would rather sit near the wall than make small talk, yeah?

Megan had been looking for the boy she had been given for the Secret Snowflake, but no luck yet. At least Derek was someone Megan could recognize since he was related to Ernie. Given someone else, perhaps an even younger year and a different house, she would have been stumped. While scanning the room, she felt the tap on her shoulder and turned around to see Teddy, surprised to find Hannah's boyfriend. It probably wouldn't have mattered if it was him or not, Megan still would have been surprised. Knowing that Hannah was happy and hearing good things about Teddy made Megan feel comfortable around him even though she hardly knew him. "Oh hi Secret Snowflake! Happy Christmas!" Megan said with a smile. Unlike Teddy, Megan had no problem with going up to strangers and conversing with them. "Teddy, thank you for the lovely presents. I adored the teddy bear and the candies taste good so far." After she had gotten the presents, Megan had sampled the candies. Besides, Megan and candy just went together. "Are you having a lovely time?"

Teddy told himself to relax. So what if this was his girlfriend's good mate? So what if she could possibly go back and convince Hannah Teddy was a bumbling git? Trying to calm down, Teddy kept a smile plastered to his face, grateful for all those etiquette lessons his mum had insisted on when he was growing up. As proper, he bent at the waist in a tiny bow. "Glad you enjoyed. I wasn't sure and I was afraid asking Hannah for help was cheating!" He shook his head, chuckling at himself. "And quite a nice time. Yourself?" It was true enough. Granted, Teddy hadn't been there long and he wasn't one for large gatherings, but he had spotted Hannah and she looked lovely. That? Made the whole affair worth it.

Megan let out a small chuckle. "Can't go wrong with sweets... unless the person is allergic. Thankfully, I'm not one of those people." She nodded her head. "I am having a lovely time so far. This was a brilliant idea, even if it was a little hard to guess what someone might like." Megan had been lost on what to give her snowflake before deciding that the box of chocolate frogs would be her gift. "You did a good job. I'm hoping I did a good job." Feeling curious, Megan wanted to know what he got, or who had him for the secret snowflake. "Did you get a good Secret Snowflake present?"

Teddy hadn't attempted to figure out who gave him the jar yet. The gift and sentiment were definitely brilliant, but he couldn't help his conflicted feelings regarding the note. He hadn't told Hannah or Pansy or Draco so he didn't feel bad leaving out that small detail in talking to Megan though. "I haven't looked for him. Or her. The gift was a good one, definitely." He twisted a bit to read a punch ladle. "Would you like some?" He poured his own while adding, "Have you found who you were giving to?"

Megan smiled. "Getting a good one is brilliant. I'm sure whomever it is, will find you soon enough." Her mind started to wonder around gift ideas for her family, she still had not gotten anything for them. When asked about the punch, she nodded her head. "Yes, please and thank you," she said in response. "Nope. I haven't found him yet. I'm thinking he isn't here yet or he's chatting with whomever he sent a secret snowflake to." Megan scanned the room. At this go around, she did not find Derek.

"Who did you have if you don't mind me asking?" Teddy sipped his punch though his own eyes scanned the room again as well. They stopped when they found Hannah. He smiled, trying to catch her eye before turning back to Megan.

"I don't mind," Megan said before taking a sip of her punch. "I had Derek Willoughby. I had the hardest time of thinking of something because I didn't want to cheat and so settled on sending him chocolate frogs."

Teddy stiffened at the familiar name. Ernie's cousin. He was still hurt by Ernie's words about there being no hope for a friendship so hearing about Derek definitely rubbed salt in that old wound. "Derek's a brilliant bloke." And from what Teddy remembered, that was indeed the truth. "And I actually think I see him over there..." He rose on his tip-toes. "Yep! That's him." Smirking, he turned back to Megan. "Should I step out and let you reveal yourself, Miss Frog Lady?"

Megan looked in the direction he was looking and spotted him. "Oh, thanks for spotting him. I must have looked over him several times already." Megan looked back at Teddy and mentally made a note to which direction she should head. "Probably best. You probably have a chance to spend some time with Hannah before your mystery person finds you." She had seen Hannah a few times, and probably figured that he had seen her as well. "Thanks again for the teddy bear and candies."

Teddy's cheeks flushed as she read him so well. "That obvious, hm?" He bent and brushed a light kiss on her cheek. "Pleasure chatting. Let's do it again, yeah?" It was funny to think the boy who had nearly made a career in being invisible so desperately sought another's approval, but Hannah was that important. She brought out his need to associate with others and gave him courage to quit hiding in the shadows of his family's death eater past. He had truly enjoyed his brief conversation with Megan as awkward and shy he felt.

Megan stifled a giggle. "Just a little bit," she said with a big grin. "It was a great pleasure. That sounds like a great plan. Enjoy the rest of the evening, Teddy." This had been a fun evening so far, even if the conversation with Teddy had been a bit on the short side. Now, her task was to go over to Derek and tell him that she had sent the chocolate frogs. Megan knew that when she saw Hannah later, she was going to say how lucky she is to have Teddy. He really was a sweet boy, despite his family's history.
