Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: Millicent Bulstrode, Miles Bletchley &Sally-Anne Perks
WHAT: It's the holidays, Millie&Lani are staying with Miles
WHERE: Bletchley Manor; Glasgow
WHEN: Today; the 21
RATING: TBA
STATUS: Incomplete/in progress

Holidays hadn't normally depressed Miles, but this year was different. It was somewhat natural for him to be upset, considering so many of his family members were missing this year. It hurt him to know that when Christmas day came he would have so few tp share it with. The fact that Sally-Anne had brought Millicent with her for the holidays did comfort Miles somewhat. Though he may not seem like the type, but Miles did enjoy company, and having things to share with others. Having Millicent there for the holidays made it seem more like his family was there, more people to share it with, more people to smile and laugh. At least he hoped there would be smiling and laughter. If not, the holidays would be even more depressing than he imagined they would be as they progressed.

The entire thing had him thinking too much, and drinking too much. Currently, he was sitting in a chair by a fire in the library, hiding somewhat from everyone. The flask that Millicent had given him for his birthday was in one hand, while the other held the journal that Alicia Spinnet had given him. He'd taken to writing some of his more personal thoughts in it, so he wouldn't have to worry about hexing things private. The problem was, the majority of the what he was writing was very upsetting to himself, and he was seriously considering burning it. Now would be the perfect opportunity. There was a roaring fire just to his left and it would be so simple to just toss it in. But at the same time, he couldn't bring himself to.

With a sigh he brought the flask to his lips, tipping his head back and taking a long swig. The alcohol, he thought it was firewhiskey, but he was honestly a little drunk already and so he couldn't place the taste too well. He scowled at the fire, thinking about what he could do to occupy his time. Sitting here sulking wasn't doing anyone good, especially not him. The only problem was, he couldn't think of anything better to do. There was Sally-Anne and Millicent that he could track down, or he could find Marley. Either sounded fine to him, but then he had no idea what he'd do once he found any of them. There was the possibility of going out somewhere, but his mind wasn't working well enough for him to even come up with anything that sounded interested. With another sigh, Miles took another drink and stared into the fire, losing himself in his thoughts.

Not being at home in the Bulstrode manor was different. So was being in Scotland over England, but it was something she was enjoying. Less drama, usually there was lots of arguing and she had yet to hear a peep of some form of tiff, it was pleasant. Millicent in her not so quiet or graceful flowing walk she explored the house that was the Bletchley's. It was nice, somewhere she felt at home but also envied. She had a silly thought of one day living here, but like that would ever happen. Why would Miles ever want her? Yeah Millicent could be confident in life but romance that was a funny thing to Millicent. She didn't dwell on the thoughts of her crush for long feeling it to strange to drool over the thought of a boy who was actually in the house. Millicent was dreading confronting her feelings, and hoped she wouldn't have to. She had begun to dwell on it at school but tried not to bother Sally-Anne with such issues, after all it was tad strange.

Her walking eventually caused her to encroach upon a room with a flickering fireplace lighting the room. Curiosity got the better of her, after all she had been told she was welcome to treat the home as if it was her own. As she walked into the room with the same lumbering stride she always had and peeked over to see Miles in the chair. Her stomach dropped and twisted, she felt her palms begin to sweat. Millicent growled in her head at herself, cursing the way her body had to react to Miles each time her eyes walked over him. He was handsome, and so kind to her. Millicent felt a lump form in her throat and felt words catch in her throat not letting her talk. Her mouth went dry as she stood there with her hands in her pockets of her jeans.

“Hello,” she croaked out unsure it was even heard. “Should I leave you?” Millicent innocently asked as she took a step forward to sit down near him. She worried seeing him like that and she hoped to cheer him up if he would let her. Millicent felt very worried for him, and knew that times were hard for him but she just wanted him to be happier and get past it all. Millicent cared for him, perhaps more than she did some of her brothers, but then again that wasn't saying much. Millicent was just worried, and perhaps it was more painful to see it due to the way she felt. Millicent couldn't quite figure it out.

“I could go find Sally-Anne and bother her I suppose,” she shrugged her shoulders as she leaned against the arm of a chair looking at Miles.

Miles jumped slightly at the sound of Millicent's voice. He'd been so wrapped up in his thoughts that he hadn't even heard her come in. His body turned towards her, and instinctively he moved the flask somewhat behind him. It wasn't as if he was really hiding the fact that he was drunk and drinking, but he felt sort of like he should be setting an example for Millicent and Sally-Anne. Though, it wasn't exactly like Millicent didn't know about his drinking. She had been the one to buy him the flask and give it to him. Still, he felt a little strange about it. "No, you don't have to leave." Miles said softly, he watched Millicent for a moment before turning his gaze back to the fire.

"I was actually thinking about coming to find you and Annie, I guess it's my luck that you happened to find me instead." His words were quieter than he normally spoke, but when he glanced back at Millicent he smiled. Nodding toward another chair near the fire that was empty he said, "If you want, you can sit and enjoy the fire with me." For the briefest of moments Miles thought aobut offering her the flask, but decided against it. He was trying to be someone to look up to wasn't he? Of course, being drunk was not the way to do it regardless of if he offered her the flask or not. Instead he chose to comment on the lack of Sally-Anne.

"Where's Annie? Has Dora found her and forced her to play games with her?"

Millicent noticed his movement, as if he went to hide the flask which only drew her attention to the fact he was drinking. Millicent didn't have an issue with it other wise she would not have purchased him one for his birthday. Of course now she was going to be stuck as to what to get him for Christmas, because admittedly she had not done her shopping. Millicent didn't feel the need to comment on his movement, after all if he wanted to hide the fact he could Millicent just didn't want him to drink too much.

“I think I shall join you,” she said calmly as she walked to that empty chair and slipped into the seat pulling her hands from her pocket and resting them on the arms. Her focus was not on the fire but on Miles, she felt like she was staring and eventually forced her eyes to go to the fire, but unfortunately with Miles words she turned back to stare once more. “No I don't know where she was, I was writing in my journal before looking around and being generally nosey.” Laughing a little at her comment she awkwardly shifted in her seat, Millicent never did anything with any sort of grace. If she had been slimmer and perhaps more forward with her feelings she could be sitting on his lap and batting eyelashes, instead she was just sitting and staring and wishing she had the guts to do that. Here she could throw a punch without a second thought or talk back to a professor with ease, but couldn't flirt at all. It was a different talent so she supposed it made sense. Millicent just wished she could flirt, but more than likely she would just make a fool of herself in the situation.

“So, what is on your mind, or would you just prefer to start up a fresh conversation that dwells on nothing of what you were thinking?” Millicent respect the need to keep things private, after all in her opinion tears and sadness were a solo mission meant for nobodies eyes. If there had to be a witness it was just one. Millicent was hoping for just a fresh conversation because it would be easier to handle.

"Well be as nosey as you like, for the time you're here this is as much your home as ours." Miles assured her, smiling once more and laughing a little too. It didn't bother him in the least that Millicent had been wandering around investigating. He expected it, and it wasn't as if there was anything to hide in the house. Sure, everyone assumed that there was all kinds of terrible things hiding in the manor because he bore a dark mark, and technically was still a Death Eater, though he didn't go around professing his allegiance to a dead cause anymore. It was harmless to wander around and be nosey in the Bletchley manor, and he genuinely hoped that Millicent would enjoy herself and whatever she found there.

Regarding Sally-Anne, Miles knew she'd probably either disappeared with Dora or was sulking in some part of the manor, just as he'd been before Millicent arrived. He just hoped that Sally-Anne wasn't being too melancholy, because that wouldn't be fair to their guest, especially considering it looked as if he was going to take the award for being the most emotional and depressed for the holidays. "She'll turn up eventually." He commented, watching Millicent just as much as Millicent seemed to be watching him. He was, of course, oblivious to her feelings. He simply felt like watching her.

Millicent's next words made him sigh, averting his gaze to the fire once again. "Nothing I'd care much for talking about right now." His voice was soft, tinged with sadness and on impulse he raised the flask to his lips again. Mid drink he stopped, looked at Millicent and then gave a shrug and took a longer drink. Once the flask was lowered he gave her a slightly apologetic look and said, "Sorry about that, though I'm not sure why. Just feel kind of bad drinking in front of you."

It was nice to no she could treat this place as if it was her own, it made the visiting that much more enjoyable and bearable. She hated feeling unwelcome or out of place, and thankfully she didn't feel that here. As she looked at Miles and nodded her head to his comment she started to examine his features more, and eventually her eyes locked on his for a moment. Millicent tried not to appear awkward or nervous and casually let her eyes drop before going back to watching him.

Nodding her head, “I have no doubt she will turn up,” after all she wouldn't just leave her here. Millie had told Sally-Anne of her feelings for Miles, and really hoped Sally-Anne wasn't mad. Millie didn't want to hurt her friend or make things awkward, after all what self respecting graduate would want to get involved with a seventh year, and one with no plan for life other than to live.

Millicent knew that Miles was watching her and rather than it make her uncomfortable she was happy about it. She wasn't thinking about her weight but was focused on Miles and was glad he was at least paying her some sort of attention. As the flask was lifted to his lips she felt that silly longing feeling of being that flask, the flask she bought him. Hearing his words snapped her to the real world with a jolt. It was sort of unpleasant. “Miles, don't worry about it. I bought you the flask after all. I am just glad you are using it.” At least something she had purchased was being respected and appreciated.

With a shrug Miles said, "I know, but still, I'm supposed to be your example of how to act, right?" It frustrated him, thinking about it. So he decided not to. He took another drink, which probably wasn't the best idea, but he didn't care at the moment. Looking back at Millie he remained silent for a moment. Completely disregarding all his thoughts about being a good example and feeling about drinking in front of her, he held out the flask. "Well, since you did give me it, care to try some of what's in it now?" He offered.

Guilt nagged at him slightly, but he pushed it away. It was probably the latest two drinks he'd had from the flask making him disregard his initial thoughts on the whole thing. In any case, he wasn't going to allow himself to feel bad. Millicent was of age, right? It wouldn't be as if he was letting someone Dora's age drink. Though, to be honest, he wasn't quite sure how Sally-Anne would feel about it, but that would come later. Part of him insisted that Sally-Anne wouldn't care. Miles knew his cousin drank, so maybe she wouldn't be upset. Then again, maybe she'd be furious and yell at him. Maybe Millicent would deny the offer. With a slight shake of his head, Miles decided he was simply thinking far too much.

“No, that is the job meant for my parents and my brother, you are neither as far as I know so you are meant to be a friend.” Millicent said as she ran her fingers along the fabric of the chair's arm. She looked at him carefully as he held out the flask, somewhat shocking but she wasn't about to pass it up. Millicent was no stranger to having a drink, how else was she to get through a holiday with her family? Her brothers taught her when they thought she was old enough, but honestly despite her size she didn't have a great tolerance. She got tipsy and definitely more chatty within the first few sips. Well they were Millicent sized sips.

“Thanks,” she said as she took the flask from his hand and purposefully made her own fingers make contact with his. How badly she wished she could just grab his hand pull him forward and kiss him. She could barely think it without getting nervous, so there was no way she was going to do it. She let her hand grasp the flask taking a large gulp from it. She held it for a second looking at it before taking another. She handed it back with a weak smirk. “Thanks again,” she said handing it back to him. Millicent wondered would their hands touch again? She couldn't help but hope.

Would Sally-Anne care if she kissed him? Would she care if she saw or would she be furious? Millicent was thinking about these consequences but what were the chances she would ever have to worry about them anyway. “So how were your travels? I loved all the gifts, I actually have one on.” She held up her other wrist and smiled. Millicent didn't think she had taken it off.

"Well, if I remember correctly, your brother doesn't do too good a job though does he?" Miles commented, not really meaning to be rude about it. He just remembered the conversation he'd had with Millicent, mostly about gifts and things like that. Miles still thought that a good brother gave his sister things, randomly gave her flowers and presents just so that she knew she was loved and important. Hence Miles sending Millicent things, to make up for the lack she'd had in her life so far.

When she took the flask from him, he didn't really notice when their fingers touched, he was busy thinking. That seemed to be his biggest fault as of late. He was simply thinking too much and he wanted to stop but he wasn't sure how. He was glad that Millicent had accepted the offer, he would have felt somewhat foolish if she'd said no. "No need to thank me, love." He said offhandedly, reaching back to grab the flask. This time, when their fingers touched, he absently let the contact linger, without really realizing he was doing it. He glanced at Millicent before taking a health, or unhealthy if you saw it that way, drink from the flask.

Miles looked at Millicent's face, then her wrist, smiling when he saw she was wearing one of his gifts. "Well I'm glad you like it enought to wear it." He truly felt happy that someone had appreciated his gifts. It was better than having them thrown out like Alicia Spinnet had. "They were wonderful, actually. You should really see Brazil. The jungles are amazing." Miles paused for a second, thinking again, but this time, not in an overly analytical and bad way. "In fact, maybe I could take you and Annie before you have to go back to school." The idea seemed great to him, but that could have been the alcohol talking.

“No, none of them do. I suppose the task lies in the hands of the one who still lives at home, but he is hopeless.” Millicent laughed a little, speaking of her family in this way was okay, but mere mention of her mother and she got nervous and fidgety. She hated speaking of her squib mother, she was just embarrassed about it. A Slytherin with a mother who could not perform a simple task was just unheard of, or at least not discusssed. Millicent wasn't going to discuss it even if it was common place as it was nobodies business but her own.

When their fingers touched once more and the contact lingered she felt her heart beat faster. She was looking at him again, almost staring. She couldn't stop looking at him, her eyes entranced. Stupid crush was all Millicent could think. Her focus of thought was soon turned to her jewellery, and she nodded her head. “Of course I like it. It is from you.” Millicent went a tad pink at the mere choice of words, but it was the truth,

“Brazil!” She said loudly, as if to distract from what she had just said. “I would love to go.” To go with out Annie would be even better but like that would ever happen. “We should do that.” She said encouraging the idea. It appeared the liquid was already working its magic from the small amount she had consumed.

Miles' eyebrows rose when Millicent said she liked it because it was from him. It was the first hint he'd had that she might like him in some way that was other than a platonic 'he's my friend's older cousin' sort of way. The blush only gave the idea a little more reality. He, however didn't comment on it, figuring that if she was already blushing, him saying anything might make her blush more. Instead he studied her. She wasn't bad looking, in fact, he thought she was rather cute. Plus, she was tough, Miles liked it when people were like that.

The loudness of her next words made him smile, but it was also what she did that made him. He liked traveling with people, and he knew that Sally-Anne would want to go. It made things less lonely when you had companions to come with you. "Then Brazil will have the honor of having us visit it before the year is done." He was still smiling, which was a wonderful change from the sulking he'd been doing earlier. Miles was glad Millicent had come into the room, glad that she'd decided to sit and have a drink with him. He found he rather enjoyed her presence.

His hand shot out, offering her the flask again, but only after he'd taken another drink. He was definitely intent on drinking himself daft, though he had no intention on getting Millicent that way. Another drink or two from the flask wouldn't hurt her. Besides it seemed to be making her feel more relaxed. To Miles, it obviously was a good idea. "Care for more?"

Millicent only hoped he had not picked up on the blush, but then again how could he not? She rarely blushed, and here she was blushing right in front of him after saying something so silly. So when he moved on to speak of Brazil she calmed herself. It wasn't to bad and he wasn't making fun of her, if he had she probably would have punched him in the nose before walking off fighting back tears. Millicent was never going to let a boy get the better of her, or at least she didn't think she ever would. She was rolling the thought about in her head before she nodded her head at what he was saying. “Sounds splendid, I would love to see Brazil and now I have the chance.” Millicent had never really set foot out far beyond Europe, but this was something she had already discussed with Miles over her journal. How silly of her to develop a crush due to written word, but she had and now she was in his presences it was getting more fire behind the flickering flame.

Taking the flask from his hand she felt her fingers touch his causing a shiver to run up her arm and down her spine. The growing desire to just reach forward with her lips and kiss him was mounting. She finally let her fingers leave his just as her eyes finally looked to the flask. She took a sip, smiling inwardly at the fact her lips were touching an area that Miles' had been previously. Millicent thought herself silly and beat herself mentally for thinking such a stupid thing.

“Thanks,” she said again as she ran her thumb over her lips to stop the drip as she reach forward to hand the flask back. To large gulps was sending on her way to loosen her lips, and relax her. If she wasn't careful she could be acting upon desire and making a right fool of herself. Would it be so bad though; she tried to persuade herself. “Here you go,” she said hoping again their skin could make contact so she could feel that new warm almost fire like feeling rush through her body to warm her, or was that just the drink in the flask?

Miles took the flask back from Millicent, his eyes on her face. Their fingers touched again, but he didn't really notice. In fact, the only thing he really did notice was that his head was rather fuzzy and he was having the strangest thoughts. It'd been a while since he'd had anyone look at him quite like Millicent was now. He knew he shouldn't be entertaining any thoughts concerning the subject whatsoever. This was, after all, his cousin's close friend, not to mention that she was still in school. However, at the moment, Miles didn't really think any of that mattered.

Surely, it was just the firewhiskey that had gone to his head, or at least that's what he was trying to convince himself of. Miles continued to watch her, then cleared his throat, closed the flask and set it down in his lap. Perhaps he'd had enough. Looking away from Millicent, Miles tried to gather his thoughts. They kept going back to the way she'd been looking at him, and in an attempt to stop himself from thinking about it, Miles shifted his weight and started talking.

"I heard Annie talking with Marley earlier about seeing if you wanted to go see some ruins nearby. Bloody beautiful castle. Maybe if you went we could go on that trip after you've finished." He said, speaking a little fast. Glancing at her, he gave her a small smile and cursing the firewhiskey for making him think the things he had.

Millicent thought she could feel his eyes on her and she looked up and thought he was staring at her. It was an odd feeling because no boy ever pays that much attention to her. She felt a nervous knot grow in her stomach. She was quite okay with the fire whiskey ending up in his lap because it was less of a chance she would intake any more than she already had. She was pleased when he started to talk about Annie and Marley, which allowed her to focus on something other than his lips and thinking about kissing them. The fire whiskey was making that idea seem like such a better one than it was.

“You know that is a good idea,” she said as she moved to stand up. “Perhaps I can go find her and tell her that I would like to do that, and tell her about Brazil.” Millicent nodded her head as she got up and felt a tad dizzy as she started to walk and in passing of course she had to do the embarrassing thing of tripping. Instead of taking the ungraceful fall to the ground she ended up in Miles lap. She was more stunned than anything else and she didn't really move, she just was sitting there on him, well sort of. She was worried she was heavy, but really what she was worried about most was what her body seemed to be doing without her minds permission.

It felt like no time at all before Millicent felt her lips against Miles completing her first kiss, but her mind was screaming no saying that this was a very bad idea. Millicent wasn't pulling away her lips just against his and slightly unsure of what the hell she was to do. What would Miles do? That was the more pressing matter on her mind.

Miles was nodding his head in agreement to what Millicent was saying as she stood. It didn't register with him at first that she was seeming to have trouble walking, let alone standing, until she had fallen into his lap. He expected her to get up right away, but she didn't, and what surprised him more was that she kissed him. Immediately he froze, a thousand things going through his mind at once. This was Millicent Bulstrode, very close friend of his cousin, Sally-Anne Perks. Millicent was still a seventh year at Hogwarts. He was several years older than her. It all seemed to add up to no good.

That, however, did not stop him from reacting, after a moment's pause. It was as simple as his body reacting while his mind raced. He kissed her back, and one hand rose, seemingly of its own accord. His palm touched the side of her neck, while his fingers wrapped around to rest at the base of her nape. The kiss was chaste, for the most part, but immediately after Miles pulled back, eyes wide. The realization of Millicent being drunk, and probably not in the right control of herself hit him. It didn't matter how drunk he was, he felt suddenly guilty, as if he had just taken complete advantage of her in the drunken state she was in.

"Millie," Miles began softly, his hand still resting on her neck. His eyes stared at her, still wide. It wasn't that he hadn't wanted to kiss her, or even that he regretted having done it. He just felt that under the current circumstances nothing more should happen, for Millicent's sake. There was a good possibility once sober she would regret her actions. "Maybe we should both go find Annie, then?"

Millicent was a tad surprised when he kissed her back but that moment of surprise was quickly shadowed by happiness. Millie was getting kissed back, something she never thought to happen. Also it wasn't ever something she just went around looking for. Millie was in awe of the situation and wasn't exactly ready to let him go. The fact she wanted something and wouldn't give it up was not out of character, what was was the fact she was wanting a form of romance for one fleeting moment. She didn't know what to do with herself, and she feared it was showing.

“Miles, I,” she paused and thought this over and decided there was no reason to apologize. Millicent was a little proud, almost as proud as the day she got to throw a few punches Hermione's way, or like the time she used one of her brother's bats to smack a bludger about and did it better than him. Millie wasn't sure she liked being proud about this but she did like the feeling his lips had left on her own. Perhaps this was what the big deal was all about, but the fact she had experienced it would never make her gossip with the girls. Millie mentally shuddered at the thought of girlish gossip.

“Yes perhaps we should go find her,” she said softly before leaning forward and let her lips touch his again. They tasted of the liquid that had given her the courage to do this. She wouldn't regret it, but she would be a tad embarrassed and panicked about what he thought. Millicent of course would just play it cool outside, but she knew inside she would be a wreck trying to figure things out. Sally was someone she could talk to at times, but definitely she couldn't talk about this since it involved her cousin.

With her lips against his she placed her hand on his chest making the most of the moment. Millicent would make sure nothing more than a few kisses would happen, but she was also sure she wanted to take advantage of the moment and the courage. No way would she do this again without knowing Miles wanted it or Miles did it first.

Despite Millicent's words, she made no move to go find Sally-Anne, and Miles was hardly one to argue when a girl was kissing him. He still felt a bit bad about the whole situation, but it certainly seemed as if this was what Millicent wanted at the moment. He'd tried his best (or so he was telling himself) and it wasn't his fault that Millicent had kissed him again. It wasn't exactly like he could just push her off of him, nor would he really want to. It was confusing him to think about, so he forced himself not to. He just reacted, did as he felt instictively to do. That meant kissing her back. Again.

Whatever was happening now, would happen now. If either of them felt strangely about it, they'd just have to deal with that later, and who said Sally-Anne even had to find out? Maybe it just wouldn't get brought up. Or there was the possibility Sally-Anne wouldn't care. In any case, Miles' thoughts were far from his cousin and focusing on the girl sitting in his lap. That was until he heard someone clear their throat in the direction the door was. Miles froze, then gently pushed Millicent away, looking in the direction the sound had come from, somehow already knowing who it was before he even saw her face.

Sally-Anne had been with her sister, Dora while Millicent explored the house on her own. Sally knew that Millicent could find her way around, and that she wouldn't be too shy about things. She just hadn't expected to walk into a room and find her cousin and friend kissing. At first she hadn't known what to do, she'd just stood there, staring at them. Then, she cleared her throat trying to catch their attention. When Miles looked at her, she saw a guilty, sheepish expression on his face. Her arms were crossed, eyebrows raised, but she didn't say anything at first.

"Am I interrupting something?" Sally-Anne asked quietly, not sure what to feel. It wasn't as if she hadn't known that Millicent had developed a crush on Miles. The current feelings racing through her were a mix of surprise, anger and jealousy. She couldn't quite figure out that last one, but it was definitely there. It was that emotion that was making her feel as if heat were rising on her cheeks, but not in an embarrassed blush at having caught them. It was an angry feeling. "Really, I'll come back later when you're not so busy." Sally-Anne said, her voice still soft, but clearly upset.

Millicent enjoyed this maybe because she was finally acting on her feelings, but whatever it was she wasn't about to question it. Millicent wasn't going to stop kissing Miles right now if he wasn't going to. Of course she heard the footsteps and it caused her kiss to turn nervous before pulling away. She knew who it was before she even saw her, or at least she had some sort of inclining. As Millicent turned a plain expression was on her face as she made eye contact with Sally-Anne. Millicent stood up from her place on Miles lap and looked at Sally-Anne as she spoke. Millicent didn't exactly feel proud of this, and perhaps was a tad embarrassed but she wasn't going to make a big deal about it.

"What would you be interrupting?" Millicent asked her voice a bit gruff but it wasn't as gruff as it would have been had it not been Sally-Anne. She glanced towards Miles to get some form of read from his body language and turned back to Sally-Anne. A weak smile pulled at her lips, "Nope, no need to come back later we aren't busy." Millicent managed to speak clearly as her fingers played with the hem of her sweater awkwardly. She was not wanting to get angry and start throwing punches because she couldn't deal with a situation and how awkward it might be. As she stood there assessing the situation now and previous she sighed heavily.

"So apparently we are going to Brazil, Miles is taking us." Millicent said in a hopeless attempt to start up a conversation, even if it was a fake one just to avoid the current situation. Millicent never did well with awkward or emotional situation because she wasn't exactly taught to cope with them other than to throw punches.
