Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: Oliver and Patricia
WHAT: FOOD! :D And, you know, friendship
WHERE: Patricia and Kenny's
WHEN: 24 November, Tuesday, after practice
RATING: Who know's? PG? PG-13?
STATUS: Incomplete

Oliver winced as he hobbled up to Patricia and Kenny's door, mentally damning the team Healer. Did a shoddy job fixing up his knee after that bloody fall. He'd have to make a run to St. Mungo's before he went over to the Ministry to drag Percy home. Silly overworked git. Ollie sighed happily when he reached the door, knocking gently and leaning against the door frame. Patricia time! And food. God, he was looking forward to this so very much. Food food food and Patricia.

"Patriciaaaaa," he called playfully, knocking again all over the door.

Patricia had become so distracted by her plans for Friday that she’d nearly forgotten she’d invited Oliver over. She’d only spent her lunch break trying on half the dresses within a 30 mile radius of the office and came out with five. She wasn’t sure which one she was going to wear but it didn’t matter. She’d figure it out! She hadn’t had a real date in forever. She was rather cursed with all these boys that were friends. At least one of them had noticed she was a girl. His twin was perhaps more distracting than all of the anxiety about Friday. He didn’t seem terribly happy about it all and she wanted to slug him until he was. She wasn’t quite sure what it was about Fred that made her want to hex, punch and general quarrel with him all the time but it was frustrating for her. She just hoped he didn’t manage to talk George out of wanting to spend time with her. She’d have a solid reason to hex him then though.

She was heating up the various food (having remembered Oliver was coming over) by the time he arrived. She evacuated the kitchen long enough to come answering the door. She couldn’t help but let her smile broaden. She'd stuff him to the brim and then maybe she'd solicit some of his advice. Kenny was nice but Oliver was honest. Maybe she'd try on her dresses for him and get his opinion. Maybe.

“Oliver!” she said cheerfully undoing the door to let him in. “You didn’t stand me up! I guess this means you had a good practice.”

"I would never stand you up, gorgeous," Oliver greeted Patricia cheerfully, leaning in to kiss her cheek as he limped his way into the flat. "Practice was alright, I suppose. Fell off my broom and broke my leg in two places. Nothing horrible," he told her with a smile. "You look flustered."

Flatteries and kisses to the cheek aside, any thoughts of other people and situations slipped off her mind the minute she saw him limp. Maternal instincts took over immediately. She couldn't believe someone would let him limp all the way over here like that. She could practically ring his coach's neck for this. "You're injured and it looks horrible," she said insisting on taking his arm and leading him to the kitchen to sit. She couldn't have him limping like that and not help. It was horrible. "I'm flustered because someone came over here hurt instead of going to get himself fixed. What am I going to do with you?" she said hands going on her hips. Yup, she might have looked flustered before but she was flustered now. Flustered and upset.

"Aren't you adorable?" Oliver remarked cheerfully, letting her push him around all she wanted. "Really, darling, I'm fine. The team Healer is just a lazy sod. I'm going right over to St. Mungo's when I'm done here, I promise. And you, my dear, were flustered before I got here. What's got you all worked up?" He'd never seen her so out of sorts before. Something big had to have happened.

"Don’t think just because you play Quidditch, you’re a couple years older than me and you’re most definitely bigger than me that I won’t smack you,” she told him trying really hard to look fierce but mostly looking amused. She wasn’t good at playing angry with people she was fond of. She rather liked Oliver even if he was a teasing prat! "It’s nothing. I did some shopping because I have this date on Friday and I think they all make me look fat and dreadful and then I was in the kitchen making sure everything was ready for you – I guess the heat of the kitchen got to me is all. I’ll survive unlike that knee of yours. If you can’t keep yourself uninjured, you aren’t getting me on that broom of yours anytime soon.” Yes, a partial spill. She didn’t have the will power to keep secrets. Announce and distract with other things! Yes, that was her. She grabbed a bowl of homemade pasta and a spoon and shoved it in front of him. If the Quidditch comment didn’t get him maybe the food would.

"I hardly doubt anyone is going to hit us with a bludger when I take you flying," Oliver told her, rolling his eyes and taking a bite of the pasta. Oh god. This was bloody delicious. Patricia was a goddess. A goddess of food and pretty curls. ...Wait.

"...Did you just say date?" he asked through a full mouth, tilting his head. "You did, didn't you. Who are you going out with? Where are you going? I highly doubt you look fat in any of them, darling, you're gorgeous. Go put them on."

"Depends on how on Friday goes because I remember him being rather good with a Beater bat," Patricia commented off-hand. It was true though. Fred and George had been very good Beaters back in the day. She’d watched them play in more games than she could remember. At school, she’d sort of resented that whole little group because she never seemed to fit in it. She’d found her own friends and made her own way. It was all very silly though looking back. If it wasn’t George getting mad at her for wanting to spend time with Oliver then it could be Fred getting mad because things went well with George. Oy. She did not want to be stressing over all of this right now. There had to be some crazy Quidditch League beaters out there too.

"... Just George though,” she said after a minute. There wasn’t a need to shove a last name in there because Oliver would know which George she was referring to. She paced for a second putting more things on the table including some butterbeer before nodding. “Be right back.”

What if Oliver thought these were all ugly on her too? Oliver was so easy to please though and he was different from George. She didn’t want her only real attempt at dating in forever to be a complete and utter farse though. Asking Oliver was much easier than asking either of her brothers though. She loved them but this wasn’t a realm their advice was unfiltered. She needed unfiltered and honest. She shrugged off the shirt she and jeans she was wearing moving into her closest to pull out option # 1 sliding it down and over her head. It needed heels but she didn’t bother with it.

She’d just meander back barefoot.

"I do look fat. Why weren't you all calling me gorgeous when we were in school?" she pouted as she returned. Such a female.

George. Little Georgie-boy and Patricia were going on a date? That was so bloody adorable Oliver didn't know what to say. And before he could think of something, Patricia was off, leaving him alone with the pasta, which Oliver worked through until he heard her door opening again.

"Jesus," he breathed when he saw her, quickly swallowing everything he had in his mouth. Wow. That was...wow. "...Patricia, darling, if you wear that on your date, I can promise you that George Weasley will be tripping over his own tongue all night."

Patricia watched him unsure what to make of that look on his face. Her cheeks flushed at the prospect of making anyone trip over their tongue. She still had other options. Could he really be certain based on just seeing that one? "You really think this is the one?" she asked.

There was another one that she had been torn over trying on first. The green one was probably one of her favorites out of the bunch but the black one was sort of cute too. She'd have to take a jacket regardless of which one she wore. It was too cold to go around not wearing a jacket.

"At least let me show you one more before you go and decide on the first one and none of this being nice about it because I'm a girl and you're a guy," she ordered. It wasn't like she thought Oliver would lie about this sort of thing though.

She didn't really let him say no to a second dress merely went and changed into her second
before coming back out.

"Black or green?" she asked. She was being a terrible host and she knew it. She hoped he was at least enjoying the food. She hadn't even asked. She'd be better once this was out of her system though.

Oliver held up his right hand and made an "x" over his chest with his left. He would never be nice to her just because she was a girl. He'd be nice to her because she was a lovely girl and a good friend. But this? This was not being nice. This was telling the truth.

"You're such a bloody knock-out," Oliver remarked when she reappeared, smiling. "I promise, love, I'm not just being nice. You look beautiful. Either one of those dresses will kick him on his arse, but I think you should wear the green."

Patricia didn’t really think she was a knock-out. He might have been exaggerating just a little bit but it was sweet. That was part of the reason she kept him around. The other part was because she was a girl and Oliver wasn’t hard on the eyes either (not that she was the sort to really go telling people those sorts of things). She wasn’t going to argue.

“If you’re wrong, you get to come comfort me,” she offered with a laugh and peck to his cheek before slipping back out long enough to shove back on her regular clothes and hang up the dresses. She couldn’t very well linger in them and get them dirty. She came back only after a second though.

“Is the food alright? Is there anything else I can get you?” she asked as she slipped back in and grabbed herself something to drink out of the fridge. She did feel more relaxed with everything else out of the way.

"Trust me, love, I'm not wrong!" he called after her, settling back into the sofa to return to eating the yummy delicious pasta she'd shoved at him earlier. So bloody good.

"'s brill!" he told her cheerfully, shoving another fork-full into his mouth and chewing while he patted the seat next to him. "Come sit your pretty little arse down here and tell me about this date. Since when are you interested in either of the Weasley twins? How did he ask? Where are you going? Give me all of the girly gossip."

"I wouldn't say I'm interested or disinterested," she said lying through her teeth as she did just as he'd asked and sat down near him. Of course, she was interested. If she hadn't been would she have gone to all this trouble? Would she be so antsy over it. She wasn't sure when all of this had happened. "We were just sort of talking... in the journals and he asked. I don't really know where we're going. There isn't really an interesting story."

Oliver sighed, setting the pasta on the coffee table and wrapping an arm around Patricia's shoulders. "Love, I know you. If you weren't interested, you wouldn't have accepted. And if you aren't interested, I'm going to have to give you a pinch for leading George on. He's a good bloke." He gave her a gentle tug closer, kissing her temple. "As it is, I think you're interested. And I think he'll be stumbling over himself and if he doesn't ask you out for a second, I'll smack him myself."

"I find you interesting though does that mean I should be always telling you yes?" she teased. It was different though. She was used to dealing with guys like Oliver. Cormac was Oliver on speed and he was her very best friend. She was capable of saying no to people when she wanted to. Besides, Oliver never asked her out on dates. She wouldn't have taken him seriously if he did. George was legitimate. "If he doesn't ask me out for a second maybe I'll turn into the female version of you and McLaggen minus the Quidditch obsessions," she told him grinning, leaning against him. That was about as likely to happen as Voldemort being revealed as actually being a transsexual, transvestite from Transylvania. Rejected or not that wasn't going to happen but she could joke about it.

"Finding me interesting and being interested in me are two very different things," Oliver pointed out. "And hey. I think I'll be taking offense to that. There's nothing wrong with being me. I happen to be extremely desirable. Everyone loves me. And I am very, very humble." He smiled charmingly, giving Patricia a squeeze.

"So tell me. You gonna let him kiss you goodnight?"

"Well if you ever decided that you wanted to be focused on one person loving you and not everyone I might be singing a different tune," Patricia told him. She liked making it about other people and not her. She didn’t want to make a big deal out of everything. That was just asking for it to blow up in her face. "… On second thought you don’t want to hear me sing though, I can’t hold a pitch.”

Her cheeks flushed at mention of a goodnight kiss. She wasn’t sure whether Oliver meant that innocently or not. She was sure her facial expression gave it all away though. Bugger! “—It’s a strong possibility,” was all she’d tell him though. “Remind me to owl you a play by play since you seem so interested or would you like to stalk the bushes?”

Oliver grinned brightly when he saw Patricia's blush. "You'll have to do that, love. I don't much fancy crawling around in blushes. Besides, I might have something to do. Depends." Mostly on how things went with Harry. "I'll expect at least three pages. I want to know exactly where he takes you, what he's wearing, what he says about what you're wearing, what you eat, what happens after dinner, what happens after he kisses you. Everything."

Suddenly she felt like she were back in Hogwarts. The only difference was that people actually noticed she existed. It was sort of a nice thing. Oliver telling her to write three pages reminded her of the inches she'd had to write on essays for classes. She did not miss those days at all. She probably wouldn't be the sort to kiss and tale. She could joke now but -- she wasn't really the sort to brag about that sort of thing. "We'll see," was all she'd offer. Nothing more.

Oliver didn't really figure Patricia for the kiss and tell type, to be honest. She was much too sweet for that. His smile softened and he pressed another kiss to her temple. "I should get out of your hair and on to St. Mungo's, love. I'm starting to get a bit numb in the leg and I can't imagine why that would be a good thing."

Patricia wanted to pout. He'd just gotten there! That was what it felt like anyways. A quick glance at the clock disproved this theory. She didn't really want him to go. "Are you sure you'll be okay to get yourself there?" she asked making sure. She did care for him and didn't want to see him getting hurt. She gave him an affection hug nevertheless. "You're never in my hair but I do like your leg. I prefer it stay attached and not have to be cut off."

"I'll be fine, darling," Oliver promised, returning the hug. "...Can I ask a favor of you, though? I'm off to see Percy after I get fixed up, and the stubborn arse needs himself a nice, home cooked meal. Have anything extra I can bring along for him?" She did say she was cooking a lot, after all.

"Of course!" she told him with a nod moving to grab a few things out of the refrigerator and shoving things into containers. She used her wand to charm the cold items cold and the warm ones warm and shoved a few butter beers in there for good measure. It was probably more than one person could eat but better too much than not enough. She sacked it up once everything was out and handed it over to Oliver. "Just bring back the containers and make sure he eats it. Last time I saw him he was thin as a rail. He needs to eat more."

"You're an angel," Oliver praised, forcing himself to his feet and accepting the food. He pressed a kiss to Patricia's cheek, nodding gently. "Lucifer was an angel too," she commented cleverly to his remark. She was actually a good girl though. She didn't tend to do anything too horrible. She wasn't a murderer or a deviant of any variety. She had her moments. Providing food for old housemates was nothing though. "You go take him home. Tell him Patricia said hello. Give him a big wet kiss on the cheek for me, will you?"

Patricia wasn't a tormentor. She would be sure to do that though. "Oh go on with yourself before I give you another bum leg," she told him. She wasn't that good at making threats mostly because they were empty but all his teasing was embarrassing her. Besides, she did want him to seek medical help.
