Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: Molly Weasley and Penelope Clearwater
WHAT: Molly loves mothering. :D
WHERE: The Burrow
WHEN: 24 November, Tuesday
RATING: PG-ish, I'm sure
STATUS: Incomplete

Molly adored Penelope. She was such a pleasant girl, and so lovely and perfect for her Percy. And if the poor dear would ever take a break from his work, perhaps he would see that. As it was, though, all Molly could do was fuss over him as best she could and try desperately to get him to visit her once in a while. It was proving to be difficult, with how much work he was doing. And all of the time, too. Completely ridiculous, the amount of time her son was spending in the office. Molly had half a mind to march down there herself and tell Kingsley exactly what she thought about him working Percy into the ground as he was.

But that was another matter for another day. Penny was coming for tea, and the biscuits were just coming out of the oven. Perfect timing, if she did say so herself. And she did. Molly hummed quietly, transfering the biscuits onto a cooling rack so they would be edible by the time Penny arrived. Perfect!

Just because the relationship between Percy and herself had ended didn’t mean she had to lose all contact from the Weasleys. This was the reason behind her trip to the burrow for tea with Molly. She missed her, she was such a mother and she missed that. Penelope’s mother wasn’t like Molly, not that she didn’t like her mother but it was just different. Molly had that knack of being a mother to just about everyone and Penny was really no exception.

Penelope had taken the day off of work and apparated to the pathway of the Burrow. She was walking towards the door of the Burrow as she wondered who else would be there, but figured Percy wasn’t going to be behind the door. She really didn’t think there was a reason for worry or surprise. Penelope knocked at the door waiting for the familiar frame of Molly to appear.

Just in time! Penny always had perfect timing. Molly bustled over to the door and pulled it open, smiling brightly at the girl on the other side. Such a sweet girl. It was such a shame that things hadn't worked out between her and Percy. But there was still time for all of that, if Percy would get his act together. "Penny," she greeted her fondly, opening her arms for a welcoming hug. "How are you, dear?"

"I am well," she said softly as she moved into Molly's arms with ease. Like old times. She wrapped her arms around Molly and smiled, she still smelled like Molly. She eventually pulled away and caught the scent of fresh cookies. "How are you?" She asked softly as she looked behind Molly to see the familiar home.

"Oh, I'm just fine," Molly said warmly, giving Penny a gentle squeeze before ushering her into the house. "Come in, come in. There's fresh biscuits in the kitchen, and the tea will be up shortly." Oh, it was so good to see her again, the darling girl.

"You go on and have a seat on the sofa. I'll bring everything in for us."

She knew it fresh biscuits, and Penny's stomach all of a sudden got very interested in them. "They smell as great as always." She brushed hair from her face as she moved into the house taking in the whole area, and sat down on the sofa she knew well.

"Have you been keeping busy?" She called out hoping Molly could hear her in the kitchen.

Molly bustled about, gathering the biscuits onto a plate and then onto a tray with the tea, smiling brightly at Penny as she joined the girl in the sitting room. "Oh, always. I've been knitting up a storm, getting ready for Christmas. So many jumpers to make. I'm going to have to start working on them in January soon enough." Penny would get one, of course, the dear girl. Then there was the family, including Harry and Hermione, of course, and Remus and Tonks. Perhaps even Severus would get one this year, if Molly had enough time. Which she would. It wasn't as if she had loads of anything to do.

"And what have you been up to, dear? How are things with your family?" she asked softly, pouring the tea. Poor thing. It was always the children who suffered most in situations like this.

"Oh yes, the jumpers." Penelope said with a grin, she knew them well. Penny always loved those jumpers, she use to remember stealing Percy's when she got cold. "I don't know if I would have the patience to knit." She chuckled a bit as she watched Molly pour the tea.

"I have just been working and spending time with my brother since he is currently living with me." Penelope picked up the cup of tea and took a sip before continuing. "My family is alright, my brother seems okay I think distracted. My parents have finally moved to different houses officially."

"Poor dear," Molly murmured, taking a sip of her tea. "I'll have to send home some goodies for the two of you. You should bring him around once everyone's in for the holidays. He won't be able to play Quidditch, but I bet he would enjoy watching. And I'm sure Arthur will have plenty of questions about Muggle things." And maybe, just maybe, if Percy came, he and Penny could possibly start to mend things between them. They were so lovely together.

"You know he might really enjoy it," Penny said with a warm smile as she went to pick up a biscuit. "I am sure Will would have questions for Arthur." Penelope chuckled a bit to herself. She wondered if Percy would be there for Christmas? Would it be odd for Penny to be there for Christmas? She wanted the feeling of family and the Weasleys definitely supplied that.

"Oh, Arthur would love that," Molly told her, smiling. "The two of you should absolutely come. We would love to have you here, sweetheart. There will be plenty of room and more than enough food." The more, the merrier. And really, it didn't matter if Penny wasn't with Percy any longer, she was still part of the family.

"I think we will come, I will ask my brother what he thinks. He has voiced not wanting to go home for Christmas since there really is no home and our parents argue." Penelope said calmly even though her words cut deep. "I am sure my parents would understand, I think my mother mentioned seeing her mother for the holidays, so she might not even be in town." Penny shrugged her shoulders before taking another sip of tea. Why not go spend the Christmas holidays with the Weasleys?

Molly reached over and gave Penny a gentle squeeze on the shoulder. Oh, the poor dear... "You're always welcome here," Molly told her quietly. "You and your brother both. You're family."

"Thanks Molly," she said softly. "It means a lot," she told her because it was the truth. It really did mean the lot. "I love you all, you guys are like family to me too." Penny was glad she wasn't welcome around because she had broken up with Percy.
