Miles supposed that he should be happier than he was. It was his birthday, after all, or rather the day following. He however wasn't overly happy considering the recent events of his life. His birthday had come as a stark reminder that his cousin Elizabeth, who had been born only a month after him, would never see her twentieth birthday. He'd spent a good portion of the previous day crying, holed up in a shabby inn somewhere in Russia that he'd already forgotten the name to. In all honesty, he'd been so piss drunk that he didn't know how or why he'd gone to Russia, just that he'd been there and recieved several owls, including one from Scotia Montgomery, wishing him well on his birthday.
Scotia's owl included a parcel containing several various types of alcohol which Miles, being a mild alcoholic, appreciated greatly. The entire package gave him the idea of meeting with Scotia and another mate from Hogwarts, Emery to celebrate the day. Of course he missed his mates, but he also had an ulterior motive for suggesting the entire affair: he was depressed and was tired of drinking alone. So, he'd suggested to Scotia that the three celebrate and the plan was set in motion for them to meet and enjoy the night. Miles suggested a small pub he frequented in Glasgow, The Prancing Pony not really thinking too much about the distance it might be for Scotia and Emery.
It was in this pub that Miles now sat, somewhat dejectedly at the bar, a pint in front of him half full. He was already rather pissed, having had several drinks already, and he seemed to have no intention of stopping anytime soon. On the contrary, Miles intended to get so pissed that he couldn't remember his name. He figured he was entitled to that, considering his birthday had just passed and it would be the first time he'd seen either of his mates in quite a while. It may have been so long that they'd not seen each other since graduating Hogwarts. Miles couldn't remember, but he couldn't remember a lot of things lately. Intending to stick to his decision to not remember his name that night, Miles continued to wait, finishing his pint in one drink.
