Dear Miles,
Happy Birthday, love! I'm sorry I couldn't be with you to celebrate. Nothing would make me happier than to not be at school and to be with you. I really had a hard time deciding what to give you. Nothing seemed right, and in the end I remembered a book father told me about a while back called Black Magic. I've never actually read it, but it's supposedly about a man who travels a lot? Around the world? I'm not entirely sure on that...
Don't be fooled by the title, it has nothing to do with actual dark magic. I considered giving you a translated version, but then thought better of it. You speak French well so, why not give you more practice and have you read a book written in it?
