Kenneth sat on a bench, staring dejectedly at the ground. In all honesty, he knew it was a good thing that he and Andrea weren't together anymore, but it still hurt. She'd lied to him, betrayed him, and worst of all she'd accused him of doing those things to her. Sure, he liked Katie, there was no denying that, but the thought never crossed his mind to pursue those feelings in any way. Not while he was with Andrea. He just wasn't that kind of guy. Not to mention that they'd been together for years. He was used to seeing her every day. He loved her, even if that did make him somewhat of a fool.
The very thought of not having Andrea in his life made him panic slightly. He knew it was ridiculous, especially considering that just before he'd come here she'd come to see him. They'd gone to a park near Kenneth and Patricia's place, and they'd fought. Andrea'd screamed at him, called him all sorts of terrible names, and try as he might, all it did was make Kenneth sad. He hadn't yelled back, he hadn't even said anything. Eventually he'd just walked away, and she'd yelled at him even more for that. Called him a coward, said he wasn't worth her time. He knew she was just taking her anger out on him, she'd always been somewhat like that.
Now, he sat waiting for Katie. In normal circumstances he'd probably be nervous about the whole thing, sitting here waiting for a girl he'd been hopelessly attracted to for even longer than he'd loved Andrea, but today, he just felt like crying. If he'd been at home, chances were he would be crying, and that's not something that Kenneth would be ashamed of. He had emotions, he was fine with showing them, but he didn't want to cry. When Katie had responded to his journal entry, he'd wanted to tell her that he was horrible, that he felt absolutely terrible. Instead he'd just asked if she would meet him. He didn't want to be alone, didn't want Patricia to see him so upset, and Katie was one person he actually wanted to spend time with.
Kenneth sighed, glancing up and around him. Without realizing it, he glared at a passing couple holding hands. Automatically his arms crossed over his chest, and he looked away, glaring at the ground again as if it had done him wrong. He felt bad that Katie would show up and he'd be like this, in a poor mood, but he hoped that she'd be able to bring him out of it.
