Early Saturday morning Elizabeth Corrine Perks, eldest daughter of known Death Eaters Jeremiah and Ingrid Perks, was pronounced dead at St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries in London, England. Hospital records show that Elizabeth was admitted to St. Mungo’s late Friday evening for unknown reasons. Though no official report as been issued, it is believed that Miss Perks’ death is health related. It is common knowledge that Elizabeth Perks has long suffered, since birth, from a rare condition affecting her heart. Though healable, this condition often recurs within two-three months. In most cases, this condition is fatal, though the span of life for each patient varies greatly.

At the young age of 19, only two years after graduating from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy, Elizabeth Perks’ life was cut tragically short. It is public knowledge that the Perks were incarcerated directly following He Who Must Not Be Named’s defeat, and that they left behind three relatively parentless children in the devastating wake. Though Elizabeth was living on her own in Glasgow it is believed she fell extremely ill during mid-September and chose to move to Rouen, France in order to live with her mother’s sister, Caitlin Sloane, and youngest sister, Dorothy. Her aunt, who it is said cared for her directly during the days preceding young Elizabeth’s death in the absence of the girl’s parents, refused to speak with our representatives at The Daily Prophet.

Though those closest to Elizabeth could not be reached for comment on her untimely death, such as her sister Sally-Anne who is currently in attendance at Hogwarts, several of her childhood friends did agree to be interviewed. Thora Handley, close personal friend and confidante of Elizabeth spoke very highly of her. “Elizabeth was always kind to those around her, never had a harsh word for anyone. She was the kind of girl that you’d be proud to have your daughter be friends with, or for your son to fall in love with. It was a shock to everyone who knew her that she was a Perks. Her sisters were absolute terrors, and her parents tyrants.” Thora was unable to continue, having to excuse herself for a personal moment alone while she dried her tears.

In a time of immense turmoil, the loss of such an apparently bright figure in the Wizarding world does indeed come as a heavy blow. Elizabeth Perks will be missed, cherished and remembered by many.
