What; Mandy is painting and she gets a visitor.
When; Saturday afternoon
Where; By the lake
Status; Incomplete

Mandy needed some time to herself to relax. What better way than to sit out at the lake and do a little drawing? So when she woke up in the morning, she hurried down to breakfast than went up back to her dorm to grab her notebook and a blanket to sit on. Smiling at some of the other studnets as she walked by, she headed outside to her favorite spot. It wasn't a secret or anything, it was out by the lake and there was a willow tree that Mandy absolutely fell in love with. Thus it came to be her favorite spot, besides the Quidditch pitch.

Smiling, Mandy arrived at her spot. Sitting her notebook and her other drawing tools, she spread open the blanket underneath the tree. Taking her notebook, she set it in her lap and watched the lake. This was one of the problems with drawing, sometimes it takes a while for inspiration to come. So to help the process along, she laid down and stared up at the sky, through the willow branches while humming to herself.

The moment Sally-Anne opened her eyes she began to dread the day. A letter had arrived the evening before from her aunt and she'd postponed reading it. Lately none of the letters that had come for her from Caitlin had been pleasant, or even kind. The last had ridiculed her newfound interest in muggle things. Caitlin had even gone so far as to tell her to stop socializing with muggleborns. So, naturally, when Sally-Anne saw that her aunt's owl had arrived bearing a letter she took it but placed it on her dresser unopened. Now, waking up, she instantly remembered it.

Sitting up and reaching over, Sally-Anne opened the letter and skimmed it briefly. Just as she'd expected Caitlin said, in not so kind words, that Sally-Anne was continuing to disgrace not only the Perks name, but also the Sloane name. With a disgusted sigh, Sally-Anne threw the letter onto her bed, shooting it a venemous glare. Hardly paying attention, Sally-Anne changed and made the decision to head to breakfast, all the while her mind was circling around her family. She hardly looked at anyone during the meal, nor did she speak. She simply sat, eyes downcast, brows furred, mind elsewhere as she mechanically ate.

When she finished, she finally glanced around the room, watching the other students for only a moment before deciding that being inside at the moment held no appeal to her. Rising to her feet neither quickly or slowly, Sally-Anne directed her steps out the great hall and onto the grounds of Hogwarts. At first, she didn't know where she was going and just let her feet take her where they wished. Soon she found herself near the lake. Her eyes found a willow tree in the distance, underneath which sat a girl she couldn't see clearly enough to identify. As she neared, she saw that it was Mandy Brocklehurst. The same Mandy Brocklehurst that had let her borrow drawing books.

At first she was hesitant as to whether she should bother Mandy. The girl was lying down, staring toward the sky and looked rather peaceful. Sally-Anne wished that she felt as peaceful as Mandy wished, and in that moment chose to continue forward. The thought of the dungeons, being in the company of the majority of those she knew, or being alone all sounded like terrible ideas to her. Walking slowly, she stopped when she was maybe four feet away from Mandy.

"Beautiful day out, isn't it?"

It's funny how you set your mind on doing one thing and end up doing something different. That's how Mandy felt at the moment, the plan was to come out and work on another drawing. Instead she felt the need to just lay back, relax and just be lazy.

The voice did catch her off guard, especially since the voice didn't automatically strike her as one she recognized. Sitting up she glanced over and saw Sally-Anne Perks standing a few feet away from her. Well that would explain why the voice was very familiar to her. It wasn't often she talked to Sally-Anne, except for talking through journals. Mandy didn't mind at all being bothered, she smiled at the girl and glanced back to the lake.

"Oh yeah, excellent day to come out and relax." Mandy replied before looking back to the girl. "You're welcome to join me, can't say I'm doing something very exciting but I don't mind the company."

It wasn't usual for Sally-Anne to feel nervous and she had to ask herself why the mere thought of intruding on Mandy's personal time caused her heart to race a little and for her to feel as if she were going to throw up. She was convinced that something was terribly wrong with her, and for a moment after Mandy spoke Sally-Anne simply stared off into space. Then it hit her what Mandy had said and Sally-Anne took a deep breath and glanced out over the lake. Turning her face toward Mandy, she smiled, but it was a small, unhappy smile.

"Thank you." Sally-Anne said in a soft voice. Slowly, she lowered herself down onto the ground where she had stopped, leaving plenty of space between the two of them. Her eyes landed on the drawing book beside Mandy and Sally-Anne made a sudden noise. "The books. Thank you again for letting me borrow the books. I'll get them back to you soon, I promise. I've enjoyed using them very much, thank you."
