WHO: Teddy Nott & Megan Jones WHAT: Megan is visiting WHERE: Teddy's work. WHEN: Like sometime this week. RATING: PG STATUS: DONE
Megan was done with practice for the day, which didn't last long after their spectacular win against the Wasps just a couple days before. She had been disappointed that a few of her friends hadn't come over to celebrate. Megan was convinced they could all use something like that. It hurt that Hannah had called her selfish when she wasn't. At one point, Megan thought about saying she wouldn't do something like that again, but it wouldn't be like her to do such a thing.
So after practice, she found herself making muffins again. Baking always made Megan feel better. Though today, she thought back to her conversation with Ernie from weeks ago. She wanted to do something for him, but what could she do? Instead of dwelling too long on his situation, Megan finished the muffins and packed them up. She was going to take them to Teddy because he hadn't gotten to enjoy them as much as everyone else had.
Teddy was working at his desk when one of the assistants signaled that he had a guest. Teddy checked his watch and seeing it was near lunch time assumed it was his mother making sure he was eating. Kaleigh had a habit of popping up when he least expected simply to make sure he wasn't wasting away.
He smiled at the assistant, mouthing he'd be there in a moment. He then turned to Ernie to make sure he could take his lunch. Getting the go ahead, Teddy thanked his boss and pushed his parchment to the side for later. He grabbed his cloak and headed into the greeting area. "Megan!" He said in surprise. "Are you..." He pointed to himself. "Here for me?"
She nodded her head and smiled. "I certainly am!" She held up her little basket of muffins. "Freshly baked and I thought I'd bring you some. I'm sure everyone else needs a break from all my muffins and you haven't had much chance to enjoy them." She smiled again. "So here I am!" Megan held out the basket for him to take. "I guarantee that these are delicious. You'll love them." Megan knew it was probably for the best to ask about Ernie. "How's Ernie?"
Despite his surprise at Megan going out of her way to visit him, Teddy remembered his manners as he sat next to her. "Thank you," he replied as he reached for a baked good. He was honestly flattered that she'd think of him when it came to her muffins. However, a second later she asked about Ernie and he couldn't help wondering if that was all she wanted. "Alright," he answered with a shrug. "Typical Ernie. Says he is fine."
"You're welcome." Megan responded with a big grin. "I suppose we just leave him alone for now?" She asked him. She was concerned about Ernie, but her plan was just to ask about him. She was here to visit Teddy. "So how are you Teddy?"
Teddy really didn't know what to do about Ernie which bothered him. He understood they were working on becoming close mates again, but he had thought they had reached a point where Ernie would confide him. It hurt Teddy to think otherwise. However, he pushed those dour thoughts aside when Megan spoke. "I'm doing well," he replied. "Busy with work and Draco and the baby...you know." He didn't add that he was lonely and slightly jealous of Draco for establishing a family. It was silly since Teddy didn't feel at all ready for marriage or children. Still, he hated returning to an empty flat night after night. "How are you, Megan? I barely got the chance to talk to you at the party."
"That's good to hear, Teddy. Yeah. I've heard little things about Draco and the baby. Are they excited? I haven't seen much from Pansy over the journals." Megan knew a little, but not much about Draco and the whole baby thing. She was happy for them because it must be exciting. "I'm good. Still trying to decide what I want to do with my life. I'm starting to feel a bit run down with all the practices I have now that I'm starting for a few matches. Won't be too long before I'm back on Reserves, but it has been a good experience so far and I am enjoying it. Did you enjoy the party?" She always wondered if people enjoyed parties, but never got a chance to ask.
Teddy tried to keep up with all the questions, but as she rattled on in that funny way all girls seemed to, he knew he was sunk. "You just said a whole lot in a very short amount of time!" He teased. He laughed, nudging her in the side. "This is really good by the way." He held up his half-finished muffin. "You can visit me any day."
Megan rolled her eyes. She didn't think so. "You're just too slow," she joked. Megan grinned. "It should be. I think I make the best muffins ever." There were days, Megan knew she could live off her muffins. "When I have the time, I certainly will. I like visiting people and bringing them some baked goodie."
Teddy burst out laughing. It certainly wasn't what he expected from Megan of all people. "Yes, love, the best!" He patted his stomach. "Could down a whole basket. Of course then small children would look at me and laugh when I'm..." He searched out the right word. "Rotund."
"I doubt children would be so cruel to you." Megan said laughing. "You'll just have to jog in place or something so that it doesn't happen."
"Are you joking! Children are horrid little creatures!" Teddy's forehead crinkled as he grinned. "Of course my niece of nephew will act like an angel." He reached over to toss the muffin wrapper into a wastebin. "Do you have any?"
"If you put it that way, then why would your niece or nephew laugh if you are rotund? You know, if you were you might make a decent Santa Claus." Megan said. "Have any nieces or nephews? No. Not yet. I have one older brother and he doesn't even have a girlfriend or anything at the moment and my other two siblings are younger than me."
"Not them! Other evil children!" Teddy waved his wand, allowing two cold drinks to fly toward them. "Hope you like ginger ale?" He passed the first bottle to Megan. "Well, young is relative these days, I guess." He shrugged, feeling a bit like he betrayed Draco with that slip of the tongue. "You can share mine. I'll even give you nappie duty!"
"When I have children, they won't be evil." Megan nodded her head as she took the bottle from him. "Ginger ale is fine!" Megan laughed. "Oh joy. Sounds so exciting already. And what will you do if I'm on nappie duty?"
"Take tons of adoring photographs?" Teddy suggested. "You know, standard uncle stuff!"
"Oooh. Photographs! I'll bet you'll get all the best pictures. But I don't know what the standard uncle stuff is." Megan said.
"Spoiling, taking photographs, and handing back over to the parents! See?" Teddy put on his most innocent face.
Megan laughed. "Sounds like fun! Can't wait to be an aunt myself when you put it that way. I'll be great at spoiling my own niece and nephew."
"And making them fat. Don't forget that," Teddy reminded her with a smirk.
Megan shook her head as she laughed. "I'm going to hope that they are full of energy so they don't get fat."
"Okay, so we'll make sure if they like to eat, they also like to play Quidditch?" Teddy suggested. "Completely follow in Auntie Meg's footsteps."
"And Great Auntie Gwenog." Megan said with a smile. "I am all for them playing Quidditch. I will greatly encourage them to do so."
"Don't push them" Teddy warned. "You might wind up with a set of rebels."
"The sort to get fat off of my baking?" She shook her head. "I won't push them. I will be the coolest auntie ever."
"You can hold that title as I still get to keep mine as most brilliant uncle." Teddy nodded toward the door. "Did you want to get some air?"
"Lucky you. If you were an aunt too, I'm sorry, I'd still be the one on top." Megan teased. "Sure. Let's go!" She responded as she got up.
"Oy, you!" Teddy tried to tickle her from behind. "I'm not sure if I should be insulted or not!"
Megan jumped out of the way, as he tried to tickle her. "No, don't do that!"
Teddy immediately stopped. "I'm sorry," he quickly apologized. "Did I cross a line? I didn't intend to. Honest!"
She shook her head. "Oh, no. No, you didn't cross a line. I'm just ticklish is all." Megan said with a grin.
"Oh, well, see that's sort the point." He held up his hands, looking sneaky.
"You wouldn't!" Megan said as she noticed the sneaky look he had.
"I wouldn't?" Teddy cocked his head, pretending to look confused. "Then what am I doing?" He took a "menacing" step forward.
Megan took a step back as he took a step forward. "You look like you're going to try tickling me again." The grin remained on her face though as she took yet another step back.
"How..." Teddy managed to grab at her waist. "How astute!"
"Hey!" Megan laughed. "That isn't fair!" Megan poked him in retaliation.
"Ow! You poked a hole in me!" Teddy gripped his sides while pretending to be in great pain.
"I didn't poke you that hard." Megan laughed. "You'll be just fine. I know it. When you go back, you can have another muffin."
"Another muffin? Then you can poke me all you want!"
