WHO: Ernie MacMillan and Tracey Davis
WHAT: Chatting
WHERE: Near the Qudditch pitch.
WHEN: Tuesday, Sept. 29th, after classes
RATING: PG
STATUS: Pending

Ernie MacMillan had a hell of a weekend. He hadn't planned on making amends with Zach, but he also hadn't counted on someone sending his housemate mysterious brownies laced with marijuana. Honestly. Did Hogwarts have to start inspecting every single owl? Maybe Lavender had a point; perhaps Hogwarts was no better than being out there in the world torn apart by war. Rebuilding? More like tearing everyone and everything apart! Then of course Justin had to go try apologizing again. Ernie wanted to say it was no big deal. He wanted the words 'forgiven and forgotten' to slip from his lips, but, damn he was angry --- angrier at Justin and Susan than he had even realized.

Brilliant. Ernie and Zach might have come to an agreement, but Ernie was still scared everything would go back to the way it was before the stupid brownies. Justin had promised to remember Ernie's feelings and what happened? Same old thing. Why should he think Zach would be any different?

Needless to say, Ernie needed air. Lots and lots of air. Hence, he decided to use his rounds to take a trip outside. He finished his walk around the castle, winding up near the Quidditch pitch. Ah. Crisp, clean air. Thinking time. Just what Ernie needed.

Tracey was tired of everything going on at school. Everything she heard people talk about what Zach, Justin, Susan and whatever drama was going on with them next. Ever since her journal entry she had not opened up her journal. She didn't even want to know what was going on with Smith next.

Tracey was someone who just liked quiet, and peace. Today she sought that by heading outside. There were less people outside, which was all fine by her. She had her black robes on because it was a bit chilly today. Tracey had her Potions book in her hand, to do some more reading for class, as she headed to the Quidditch Pitch. As she made her way there she spotted one of her mates, Ernie. She enjoyed his company and he was always a sensible person. "Ernie! You needed some fresh air too?" She asked him, putting her book in her black leather backpack.

So much for peace and quiet. It wasn't anything against Tracey, of course, but Ernie just wanted a chance to kick at the dirt and pretend the entire last few weeks had never happened. Still, he wouldn't be rude, and thus, smiled as the girl approached. "Hello, Tracey." He nodded slightly, wondering what had made her 'need fresh air' too. Unlike Pansy or Draco, Ernie had never thought Tracey decided to disown him for his House. He might not have talked to her often enough, but she was always pleasant. At any rate, her company would be a nice break from everyone who worried about Zach 24-7 or wanted Ernie to just forget things and move on. "I did need some air. A bit stuffy inside, yeah? How are you, love?"

Tracey didn't talk to him all the time, but whenever she did it was always rather pleasant like. Her parents approved of the family and she didn't see anything bad about him. He seemed to have a good head on his shoulders and never got involved in drama if he could help it.

She tucked her blond hair behind her ear as the wind blew it into her face. "I am doing fine. I just enjoy getting some fresh air every now and again. I like my peace and quiet and I can't get it inside. I was going to do some Potions reading. I like reading ahead." She told him with a grin.

No, he hated drama, which is why all the ridiculous statements about Hufflepuff in recent entries made his blood boil. It wasn't fun always having to hold his temper in, but he was Head Boy and had to at least try and set an example. Still, sometimes it was terribly difficult. It was all stupid, really. They had just fought a war for pity's sake. Heck, some students their age were dead as a result.

Ernie's lips set into a deep line as the thought of the war entered into his mind. He should be able to forgive them; he knew he should. Justin had asked and even if the others hadn't...forgiveness was the right thing to do. Ernie's parents believed in second chances and so did Ernie...

But, oy, third chances? Would they lead to fourth and fifth and...

He forced his mind back to Tracey. Refusing to allow his emotions to spill over (though his face did indeed look pained no matter how hard he tried to hide it), he tried to tease, "Potions, hm? Oy, Still glad I'm not in that class. My poor marks." He shook his head, laughing at himself.

Tracey had always stayed as clear as she could from any drama, political, social, anything. She tried to appear neutral to most things if she could help it. Sometimes she let her emotions take control, but she tried her best to keep her feelings to herself and her best mates who she could vent to.

She would have hated being in Ernie's shoes, what with being Head Boy and being in the middle of all the drama going on. It would have drove her mad. It was nice having Slytherin be the peaceful house for once.

Tracey looked over Ernie's face and could tell his mind was quite busy in thought. She thought it would be good for him to take his mind off of everything for a while. "Potions is not for everyone. I got my love of Potions from my father. He is a Potions master and all. I find it rather easy. I help tutor some third years though. They all but begged me to help them. I have no idea how they passed year 1 and 2, poor things. Snape must have pitied them and let them pass. " She joked and chuckled. It was no surprise to her friends and people who knew her that she hated stupidity. She headdesked quite a bit tutoring her most unfortunate students.

Ernie wouldn't have agreed Slytherin peaceful; Pansy had shrieked and threw enough tantrums, after all. Draco had gotten everyone riled...well, more sore subjects for Ernie. He really wished someone had told him becoming an adult made life complicated. Back in second year, things made sense. There was good and evil. Or so Ernie thought. Being wrong about the heir of Slytherin had started teaching him a thing or two about that.

At any rate, chatting just normally was very nice for once. He cast Tracey a half chastising/half amused look. "Poor things. Professor Snape's so scary at that age!" Any age really, but particularly for young ones.

Well, Tracey was a bit partial to her house. Even if she was not as prejudiced about other houses like some Slytherins were, seeing as she had friends and socialized outside of Slytherin, she did believe her house was better than all others.

She just rolled her eyes jokingly at his half chastising look, but at this comment, she could not help chuckling and nodded in agreement. "I do have to admit that when I was 11, 12 and 13, Professor Snape did scare me. It is a natural reaction at that age. He has that way about him." She joked and smirked. "You can never be too careful around him."

"A petrifying way, you mean." Though Ernie had known Snape a bit as a child, he had never been on the level of Teddy or Draco and had always feared the man. Even still, Zach's comment about Snape complimenting him still stung Ernie. Ernie tried his best to be a good Head Boy, but even Snape seemed more concerned with Zach's latest escapades than noticing Ernie's effort. "I hear he's driving your House right batty though." He smirked, nudging Tracey with his elbow. "See? Told you Hufflepuff wasn't such a bad spot to live."

"Yes, that is a pretty good description. Even now I am always nervous if he likes me or not or thinks I am a failure. I mean I am good at Potions, but he has a way of making you feel like you are always doing something wrong. You learn to really appreciate every compliment you get from him. Knowing all that, I couldn't see anyone else teaching Potions." She told him honestly, smirking a bit at his petrifying comment.

Then at his comment about Snape and her house she nodded, "Oh yes! There has not been anything left unturned in my dorm. I have nothing to hide, but still. It is like he is on some mission. He gets a bit scary when he gets like that. You just learn to step away and give him space." She then looked mock affronted when he nudged her, though it was evident that she was not actually that hurt. "Yes, well as much as I like you, there are some people in your house I would not want to live with. I will take Slytherin, though if I had to pick another house, Ravenclaw would be my second choice."
