Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who; Teddy and Mandy
What; Mandy comes to visit!
When; Late Afternoon
Where; Scotland -- Teddy's Flat

It couldn't be more perfect! Mandy had a few days off from Quidditch, plus she went ahead and asked another day off just in case. She had made the plan to go to Scotland and surprise Teddy and maybe hang out with him for a while. Although, Mandy was hoping that Teddy wouldn't be too busy for her, probably would have been a lot better if she would have sent an owl and asked to come but surprises amused Mandy, especially when she's the one thats doing the surprising. After she was done that evening with practice, Mandy left a note for Lisa to explain where she was going so she wouldn't be too worried about her. She also made sure not to send an owl to her family, who needed her dad to find out? He'd have an absolute fit.

Once Mandy was ready, she apparated outside of Teddy's new flat. Smirking, she walked up the steps and knocked on the door and cheerfully shouted, "Surprise package for Mr. Nott!"

Teddy wouldn't tell his mother, but he felt awfully lonely in that flat. He was used to a dorm full of boys and while he might have craved alone time, he enjoyed the idea of knowing someone was around if he got bored. Besides, as childish as it was, he also missed his family. He worried about his mother being all alone and he fretted over his aunt's new idea and was perturbed by Lucius' reclusive behavior...

However, he still wanted to make Ernie proud in the start up of the new branch and so kept those troubles to himself in drowning himself in work. In fact, he had been working on some things when he heard that familiar voice. He couldn't quite place it so he was vigilant when opening the door, but once he spotted Mandy, he grinned. "Oy, you! What a nice surprise!" He grinned and kissed her cheek. "In the neighborhood?" He teased.

"Oy, me!" Mandy replied happily as she pulled Teddy into a hug. "Something like that," she said grinning. "I have some time off and I knew you'd be up here so I figured I'd come by for a visit!" Smiling she looked around before adding, "I'm sorry I probably should have asked first, not bad timing is it?"

Teddy was more the polite kiss type with friends, but he squeezed her back all the same. "No, not at all!" His flat was neat and he was ahead with his work so, really, it was a fine time. "At least the place is clean," he joked. "Mum taught me well." He gestured for her to enter the small, but handsome flat. Kaleigh had gone all out in helping her little boy decorate. "How are you?"

"Well that's good, I'm sure it looks a lot better compared to mine and Lisa's flat." She paused for a moment and shrugged. "Not that it's completely dirty, I just tend to leave out my art all over the place. I'm surprised I haven't gotten anything on the carpet yet." Laughing softly as she formed a smile.

"I've been doing well. Starting to get used to things going on around here. Really it's same old same old. What about you? How are you doing?"

"You still have time for art with your new position? Good on you!" Teddy waved a hand toward his sofa. "Sit, sit. Want a glass of wine? Something to eat?" He couldn't help feeling like a little boy showing off a new toy. Mandy was the first outside his family to see the new place.

"Not as much as I would like, but I always manage to find some time," she replied with a small smile as she walked over towards his sofa and sat down. "I'm not to terribly hungry yet and truthfully I never had a glass but I think now would be a perfect time to experiment with that." Laughing softly.

"The place looks absolutely brilliant, too!"

"Never?" It was nearly second nature for Teddy to offer. Even though he hadn't been of age that terribly long, his parents had always dealt with company in such a manner. "Well, then, no time like the present, yeah?" He flicked his wand, allowing the glasses and bottle to fly over one by one. He poured two glasses and handed one over to Mandy. "Well?" He asked almost anxiously. He wanted his first visitor to feel at home.

"Thank you." Mandy replied politely when he handed her the glass. "Hrm," she said out loud as she looked at it for a moment. Not that she was worried that he put something in it or anything like that, it was more of a natural reaction of hers when she tried something new. Taking the glass to her lips, she parted them slowly, letting the cool wine flow down her throat. Her first initial response was that it did taste a little odd, her face did scrunch slightly but only for a moment before she smiled.

"Not bad, better than I expected."

Teddy chuckled. "We can stick to soda pop if you prefer." He set his own glass down though he didn't bother with a coaster. There were some benefits to living alone, weren't there? Of course he never did understand why his mum got so worked up over something that magic could easily fix...

"How are you doing?" He asked, his voice going soft as he posed the question. He had been worried about her since Katie's death. It had been a shock for most and though Teddy didn't know the girl, he knew it had to be rough to take up her position as Mandy had.

"No no, this is fine." Mandy smiled warmly as she set her glass down. "I'm fine," she replied but then added, "Well, I'm getting better." With a small shrug she picked up her glass again and took another small drink. "It's starting to get less awkward for me, I mean I still feel bad sometimes but I've never been good at handling..death..I guess I can get over things quicker than most." Probably wasn't the brightest thing and maybe because Mandy didn't have a lot of death in her life that she had to deal with so who really knew what she was like.

"What about you? It can't be too much fun living by yourself?"

Teddy looked down when she mentioned death out loud. He wished he wasn't used to it. First his aunt, then Angus, and finally Ernest..."Trust me, it doesn't get easier. Dealing that is." He shrugged off her last question with a sheepish smile. "Some might call me a loner so...I mean most of the time it's fine."

Mandy bit on her lip gently. It was hard to fight the urge to smack herself in the face for saying that. Of course it would bother Teddy, how could she have been so dumb? "I'm..sorry." Of course not everyone was like her. Look at what all he had to deal.

Feeling really horrible now, she set her glass back down and looked away for a moment. "I never really pictured you as a loner. I mean, it always seemed like you were surrounded by people. I couldn't stand being by myself for more than an hour. Silence makes me feel uncomfortable and my thoughts are pretty boring."

Teddy found no reason for Mandy to apologize and so he shook his head. "It's fine. Really." He shrugged his shoulders though he did wonder if it ever got less awkward to mention lost loved ones.

He finished his wine and banished the empty glass away. His cat, Kala, jumped on his lap, giving Teddy a welcome distraction from the uncomfortable moment. "Well, I like to spend time with this girl," he teased. "Have you properly met Kala, Mandy?"

Mandy did smile but it was somewhat weak, but she took his word for it and it was also probably best that they just changed the subject. She wanted this to be a happy joyful visit! Not a 'lets sit and remember lost loved ones and be sad' visit. A small grin formed when the cat jumped into Teddy's lap.

"I haven't." Mandy replied as she moved to stroke Kala. "Hello beautiful," she said happily as gently scratched her neck. "She's very cute."

Teddy scoffed though he really wasn't put off by her declaration. "Kala is pretty, not cute," he corrected. Laughing, he scooped Kala up and offered her to the cooing Ravenclaw.

Mandy laughed, nodding her head as she took Kala into her arms. "Hey, I called her beautiful didn't I?" Smirking as she continued to stroke her. "Have to admit, living on your own doesn't look to bad. Not that I don't love living with Lisa, she's a blast but it does look like you're happy."
