draco + tracey
WHO: Draco Malfoy and Tracey Davis
WHAT: Celebrating at her birthday party.
WHEN: Backdated to this past weekend.
RATING: PG
STATUS: Pending.

Draco wasn't excited to have another party at his home even if it was smaller than the gala his mother had insisted on throwing for Draco's and Teddy's graduation. He didn't know why Teddy insisted on making nice with half the others at the party. Corner? Honestly, it was clear he was just there so he didn't miss anything. Draco had tried to get Teddy to realize a small party with Slytherins would have been fine for Tracey, but that boy was thick-headed when he wanted to be. However, that didn't mean Draco had to do much more besides make an appearance. He left Tracey's gift on the table with all the other presents and slipped out to the terrace. He had done his part, right?

The big surprise was really touching, Tracey thought. It had completely caught her off guard, because honestly, all she had expected was getting a gift from Draco. She really wouldn't have minded a small get-together with her friends. It was a nice gesture, but she wasn't even close to some of these people. Some probably wouldn't even give her a second bloody glance.

Hey, even a single dinner between her and Teddy would have been better.

Tracey didn't say anything, though, because that would just be rude. Instead, she just went around, smiling and saying hello. After that, she gravitated toward the gift table. So she shouldn't have been looking at them at the moment, but she just had to have a peek. She grabbed a small one, that happened to be from Draco, and headed for the terrace, thinking that she just needed a moment of quiet to herself for a while. When she stepped out onto it, she saw it was already occupied, but at least by someone she'd be able to genuinely talk to.

"Needed some quiet?"

Draco barely held back a groan when he heard the words, but when he turned to see Tracey, he actually smiled genuinely. He rather liked Tracey. She seemed more normal than Millicent and definitely more down to earth than Daphne or Pansy. While Draco gravitated toward the more boisterous in their House, he really liked that he could spend quiet time with those like Tracey and Teddy. "Merlin, yes. At least Kirke and Creevey aren't here this time, but..." He feigned a shudder. "Tired already? You might break my cousin's heart." He moved closer on noticing his gift. "Know who that came from?" He asked, smirking.

He then accioed a bottle of wine and two glasses. "Fancy some?"

Tracey smiled back and shook her head. "Not tired. I just needed a bit of time away and I thought I'd come out here. This is quite possibly my favourite spot in your entire house." There was a certain lingering peace to the place. While everything inside was grand and gorgeous, nothing like the Davis' moderate working-class home, she preferred something outdoors.

"I can take a guess if you're asking me if I know," she said with a wink. "And yes, I'd love some." She walked over to a bench, circling the gift in her hand, trying to figure out what could be in it. Jewelry? Perhaps, but what kind? She didn't open it till she was seated.

Draco's eyebrows shot up as she made her declaration. "This whole Manor and this spot is your favorite?" He smiled to himself as he set to pouring the two glasses. It was his favorite too, but he kept that to himself. Joining Tracey, he held onto her glass, watching as she unwrapped the small box.

Tracey's hands moved quickly so the gift was unwrapped in no time. Before she opened the box, she accepted the glass from. Her previous guess was confirmed when she opened it up. Circe, she couldn't even come close to ever buying this herself with her family income.

"Oh, Draco, it's beautiful," she said after a gasp of awe. She smiled broadly and stood up momentarily to plant a kiss on his cheek.
