Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Tonks and Leanne
Where: The River Cafe
When: Backdated to Saturday afternoon! (AM's a dork and thought today was Sunday..)
What: Girl talk?

Tonks was glad that Leanne had suggested a Muggle place to eat, really. Both for Leanne's sake and what was beginning to be Tonks' sake as well. Not that she cared about any stares or looks that might come her way, but mostly because any of the wizarding eateries were way too close to the Ministry. And maybe Remus was right. She needed a vacation. Certainly from Kevin Brocklehurst. It got her goat that he was all veiled threats and such on her own journal.

All of this was, frankly, getting to be too much. So her aunt's suggestion of a newspaper was starting to sound better and better. Thinking about this, she shifted her weight from left foot to right foot and then back again, all while waiting for Leanne. Lunch with a friend would be a very good thing, indeed.

Looking in the journals and seeing that Tonks wanted to have lunch with her, Leanne couldn't wait. Leanne was glad to be friends with the older woman, mostly for the sanity that she brought with her to the Ministry. Quite possibly, if money weren't an issue, Leanne would not have stuck around at the Ministry if it weren't for Tonks.

She had picked a muggle place to eat, at least there she wouldn't be judged by her father's actions. The treatment she received at the Ministry was enough to put her off to the wizarding world, with the exception of visiting WWW. Other than home, the muggle world was a freeing experience for her, a place she could easily hide her badge of shame. The first few times she ventured into the muggle world with it still on display, it had caused a few stares, but she had gotten better about it and finding things to do in the muggle world. It was on one of her trips that she had found The River Cafe and liked the food.

Leanne was running a little behind and arrived a few minutes after one, to see that Tonks was already there and waiting. "Hi, Tonks."

Looking up from her thoughts, Tonks smiled brightly and moved on over toward Leanne. "Hiya Leanne. How are you doing?" This was asked as she reached out to give a hug.

"This place smells delicious, by the way. I'm glad you found it."

Leanne smiled back and accepted the hug. "Doing the best that I can. You?"

"Me too. They have some good food here."

"Wondering how to hex something so that it anonymously insults Brocklehurst." She spoke cheerfully enough, but the mischief-maker in Tonks was seriously contemplating just such a thing. She grinned then and motioned that they should go and eat.

"Nobody's been giving you more guff, have they? I'd like to give them what-for." Leanne didn't deserve that sort of treatment at all. And it was both ridiculous and infuriating what she, what a lot of people, went through.

"You could always talk to the twins. They just might have something like that." Leanne laughed. It would be quite amusing if they did find something that insulted Kevin Brocklehurst. It was evident very few people liked him outside of the Ministry.

Leanne shrugged her shoulders. "Not to my face. I know they talk about me behind my back, but its proving it that is frustrating, especially to Brocklehurst. It is not all in my head and everyone can see that but him." She had a plan for that, one she wanted to share with Tonks. "I've talked to Fred about a product that could help me prove it."

"I just might." Said contemplatively, chuckling. Then she frowned a little while listening.

"He doesn't see much beyond his nose, I reckon." Tonks snorted a little, and lifted her eyebrows. "A product of Fred and George's? Do tell!"

She shook her head. "Probably not." Leanne smiled. "There isn't much to tell at the moment. I asked if they had any products that could record conversations and be discreet. Fred says they're experimenting with the extendable ears to do that. I need to check up on them and test them out." She hoped that no matter the stage they were currently in, they would work. "I hope it works, even if it is for my own selfish reason. Though, if it does.... Maybe it could help all of us break out of this mess."
