Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
michael + mandy
WHO: Michael Corner & Mandy Brocklehurst
WHAT: Michael cheers up his lovely Manders
WHEN: Wednesday evening
WHERE: Mandy and Lisa's place.
RATING: PG
STATUS: Pending

Michael didn't technically mean to act like a git toward Andy on Kevin Brocklehurst's journal, but he had to defend Mandy. It was what friends did. He didn't really agree with Kevin at all, but that didn't mean he was going to mock him. Mandy didn't deserve that. Thus, when Mandy asked Michael what he was doing, he knew she needed a friend. Without hesitation, Michael told his parents he was heading out and rushed to the nearest apparation point.

"Mandy?" He called through the door of her flat. "It's your favorite Ravenclaw ever!"

Mandy closed her journal, for now. She couldn't take what people were saying about her father. More importantly, she could bare the wait and read the reply her father would be giving her. The girl can only imagine what he'd say to her. Mandy was thankful that Michael had stood up for her, one of the main reasons why she asked him to come over.

When she heard a voice coming from outside the door, she jumped and ran over to meet him. "Lisa?" Mandy asked, a smile growing on her face, already feeling better. Opening the door, she threw her arms around Michael's neck. "Thanks for coming."

"I'm telling Lisa you said her voice was manly." Michael smirked as he casually leaned into the door frame, folding his arms over his chest. However, Mandy nearly knocked him over when she flung herself at him. He stumbled back, but caught his balance and hugged her tightly in return. "It's okay," he said more seriously.

When Mandy did pull him away, she smiled weakly as she moved back into the room, moving off to the side so Michael could make his way in as well. "Sorry I attacked you," she said with a small laugh. Taking a seat on the couch, she glanced over at Michael and just sighed.

"I hope you weren't doing anything real important. I just-" Mandy paused for a moment. "I can't stand it that Dad says those things, knowing they'll get a rise out of people. I hate it that he's telling me that I shouldn't be friends with Teddy and it makes it so much worse when I see the comments that people leave about him and having people whispering about him in front of me!" Mandy felt like she had some stress lifted off just by saying something. She did feel a little better but it was clear she was still upset.

Michael followed her to the couch and plopped down without waiting to be asked. He felt completely comfortable in his friends' flat. He snaked a hand through his dark hair, taking a moment to gather his thoughts. "Oh, I was just listening to my step-mum going on about some new cleaning charm." Winking, he added, "Real good stuff you pulled me from, Manders." He kissed her cheek, pulling the girl toward his shoulder. "Your dad...well, he knows how to cause a stir, that's for sure."

Mandy rested her head on his shoulder and sighed. This was the reason she called Michael over. No matter how bad Mandy could feel, she was instantly starting to feel better with him around. "Yes, he does." Mandy bit her lip then lifted her head to look up at Michael. "What you saw in public, that's not the worst part." Lifting her head up, she leaned back against the sofa.

"He told me that I shouldn't be friends with Teddy. Basically if I wanted to get anywhere in life, I shouldn't be friends with him." It made her think about the conversation she had with Draco. How Mandy truly wanted to be friends with him but everything just came back to her father. "I really hate he's controlling my life and I'm not even living with him!"

Michael couldn't totally relate. His father might have disapproved of Michael's current "career," but he still ultimately supported Michael in his choices. He would never tell his only son who to be friends with or how to think; the concept was foreign to Michael. "That's shite," he said bluntly. "But..." He sighed and softened. "He's just trying to protect you. He's wrong, but...yeah."

Mandy yawned softly as she just shrugged. She could tell that Michael might want to say more about her father which Mandy would understand if he did but she was grateful that he was keeping his own thoughts about him to himself. "I know, I just wish he wasn't such an idiot." It hurt her to say it, truly it did but there was no way around it. Her father was being an idiot and Mandy just hoped that he'll come around someday.

"Anyway, thanks for coming over. I've really missed you." Mandy said as she made herself more comfortable against Michael's chest.

Michael ran a hand through her long locks, deciding to let the subject drop. If she wanted to talk more, he trusted she'd bring it up. Sometimes distraction really just was the way to go. "Aw, of course you did!" He laughed, not admitting he missed her too.

"Well!" Mandy replied laughing a little. "I'm glad to see you still think your the center of the world," she replied teasingly. Closing her eyes, Mandy rested there for a while as he played with her hair. It was actually a real easy way for her to clam down and she suspected that Michael knew that. Damn him. Mandy wanted to be angry for a little longer and it was damn near impossible now.

"So how's life anyway?" Mandy said finally after a moment of silence.

"Hey, if I don't think that, who else will?" Michael tickled her stomach lightly. "I mean besides you and Lisa!" He let the silence settle around them, just appreciating the moment with a good friend. "Life you ask?" Michael pretended to think hard. "Not interesting!" It was almost funny to say that after experiencing a war and Michael tried not to think that his nightmares would say differently that night.

"Hey now," Mandy added as she lifted her head up again. "I never said you were, I just play along so I wouldn't hurt your feelings." Laughing softly as she winked at him. Letting out another yawn, she nodded in agreement. "Same here, just waiting for my moment in Quidditch, other than that there's nothing else going on. Pretty boring life, really."

Other than crazy fathers, but Michael didn't point that out. He was proud of himself for censoring his mouth and made a note to tell his dad and step-mum. "Paling around with pro-Quidditch players is boring? I'd hate to see your idea of exciting!"
