Who: Megan, Susan, and Hannah (aka, Charlie's Angels) What: Girls' Night! Bonding of the girlish variety When: Over the weekend Where: Hannah's house
Hannah was, admittedly, running herself ragged. She hadn't exactly been a good little hostess after her mum's death. But she was doing her best to do so for Ernie's family. For one, she felt guilty. Ernie had been with her when his dad had died, and not even in the country at that. It didn't help any that she'd grown to love the MacMillans as much as her own family. But also, it took her mind off of things. If she kept busy, bringing casseroles to the family and providing a shoulder or a hand whenever she could, she didn't have time to think about the reminders of her own loss. And it certainly didn't leave her any time to remember that her ex-boyfriend's father was charged with the murder.
But when one friend had commented on how tired she looked, and another had told her she needed to take some time for herself, Hannah knew she had to slow down. And maybe it would all sink in, and maybe it would hurt. But who better to ride that out with than her two closest girlfriends? Tonks was wonderful, and she was really growing to care for Hermione, but she, Susan, and Megan had history. And that history included Ernie, and his family, and no one could understand where she was coming from like those two did. So Hannah did the first thing she thought of. She invited her friends over for a sleepover, like they were twelve years-old. And, despite the blood that ran through their veins, she made it a mostly muggle type affair, too, preparing the Abbott living room with videos, CDs, pizzas, and her favourite makeup products. The girls deserved a good time, and darn if she wasn't going to try and find it.
Everyone had been so sad lately and Megan could understand that, but personally, she didn't like feeling so down herself. Her chat with Ernie right after the funeral made her feel more normal and she hoped it was at least helpful for him. Megan wanted to help them in any way that she could. If it was always that easy, Megan would be fine with that. All she hoped for right now was that this would not happen again any time soon.
So when an invite came from Hannah, Megan jumped at the chance. She knew that Hannah must be feeling rather down. Not only did she have to worry herself over the MacMillans, but Teddy's father was being charged with her mother's murder. That had to be just awful for her. Megan thought that Hannah could use a hug, just as much as Ernie and many others did as well. Of course, Hannah wasn't just going to be getting a hug from Megan when she got there, but she'd be getting some sweets that Megan made.
Megan got to Hannah's a few minutes before the time Hannah had said, with her goodies, her sleepover stuff, and a smile as she knocked on the door. They needed this, all of them. They needed something fun to keep their minds off of all of the bad stuff that had happened in the last couple of months. She didn't know what Hannah had planned, but she'd be happy with whatever it was that they were going to do.
Hannah flung open the door when she heard the first knock. Her dad had been kind enough to vacate the house for the night. Something about going to stay with her brother to spend time with her niece and nephew. But at least that meant she didn't have to kick him out of his own living room, where her own sleeping bag was already tossed on the floor. "Megs!" she squealed, genuinely happy for the first time in a long time. She threw her arms around her friend's neck. "You're the first one here, Susan should be right behind you, though, she's almost never late." And if she was, Hannah was bound to start worrying. It was just her way.
"Hi, Han!" She'd have given a hug back if her hands weren't full. "Well, maybe we should get out of the way. Wouldn't want Susan to trample us. Plus, I'd like to dump these so I can give you a proper hug." Megan doubted that being trampled would be possible, so she laughed at it. "How are you? I brought some sweet stuff because I needed something to do. Thought I'd share them with you and Susan." She wanted to know what was planned for the evening and night, but she thought that she'd wait for Susan before she asked that question.
"Sweets?" Hannah's eyes lit up in anticipation of anything sugary. Every once in a while, her sweet tooth went rampant. Stressed times were the worst and she'd been craving biscuits, cakes, and muffins more than ever. "Oh, that's brilliant, you didn't have to, but that's perfect! We could've baked over here, but we'd have had to have done it the muggle way, just because I'm not sure my kitchen could handle that much magic at once, it'd probably short circuit or something." She was rambling, but she was just excited to have her friends over. And to be away from it all for just one night. "Come on, throw your stuff down wherever, we've got the whole house to ourselves tonight."
Susan had been worrying about her friends ever since she heard about the accusation against Theodore's father, and after the death of Ernie's father it had only gotten worse. Of course, she knew from experience what it was like to lose a close family member, and since she hadn't known Ernest as well as some of the others, she had purposely kept herself back a bit. After all, well-willing as people were, all those sad faces and condolences only served to remind Ernie of what had happened, and she didn't want to impose on his family at a time like this. As a result of that, however, she hadn't seen much of Hannah either apart from a brief glance and a casual chat at the funeral, and so Hannah's invitation had come as quite a relief.
Approaching the door, Susan shifted the sleeping bag under her arm so she could lift up a hand to knock. She hadn't had a real sleepover for years, and just the thought of spending some time with her former dormmates brought a smile to her face.
"Oh, that must be Susan!" Hannah squealed happily, running around Megan and making a beeline for the door. "Keep room for her, too, no taking up the whole floor!" she called back to Megan. Swinging the door open, she all but pounced Susan, nearly knocking the sleeping bag from her arm. "You're here!"
"I need something to do and I have such a sweet tooth," Megan told Hannah. "I think baking is the only muggle thing that I can do now. If we do any baking, I am all for it!" Megan went and tossed her things in the living room as Hannah went to the door. "Hey! I only brought a small bag, not my whole trunk." If Hannah had been looking, Megan would have stuck her tongue out. She liked sleepovers for the fact that there wasn't a risk for her to actually cause a big mess and have her clothes take over the room. Actually, that was one good thing about being done with school...her clothes weren't going to take over the dorm anymore! Megan headed back for the door just in time to see Hannah practically tackle Susan. "Susan!"
Practically being attacked as the door opened, Susan let out a startled laugh, only just able to keep her sleeping bag from dropping to the floor. She hadn't quite expected Hannah to be that enthusiastic about seeing her. "Hi!" she said, almost shyly, moving past Hannah as she waved her inside. "I'm not late, am I?" she said jokingly, quirking a smile at Megan as she noticed her. Producing a large plastic bag from behind her back, Susan shook it playfully. "I brought treats!"
"Oh gosh, we're going to have to be rolled out the door thanks to you two!" Hannah protested, but she was grinning widely. After all, it was a party! It may have only been three people, but they included two of her favourite people. That and so many people had thought of her as 'one of the boys' for so long that it was nice to enjoy being a girl for a change. "But save room for pizza!" she warned them. "There's a place that does delivery nearby, and we have popcorn and crackers and all sorts of other things."
Megan smiled back at Susan. "Yay for more treats!" She laughed at Hannah's comment about being rolled out the door. "We'd be all the happier for it. It will give us something to laugh about in the future." This was going to be a fun night and Megan was going to be sure that she had room for pizza. "Mmm! Pizza! I will definitely save room. And are the delivery blokes cute, Hannah?"
"I don't know, rolling out of the door sounds quite fun, actually," said Susan, putting down her stuff so she could take off her jacket. Her stomach grumbled at the mention of pizza, and Susan shrugged at the other two girls. "Room enough, I should think. And I already feel sorry for our delivery boy." Rummaging through her bag, she pulled out a large bit of fabric, that on closer inspection appeared to be some sort of one-piece pyjama that was decorated with tiny white flowers. "Look what Dad threw into my room this morning," she said, rolling her eyes. "He thinks he's so funny. I should be grateful I don't have an older brother as well." If this were a sleepover with someone other than Hannah or Megan, Susan would probably have been too embarrassed to show off her new garment, but living in a dorm with someone for seven years does have an effect on your modesty.
Hannah gaped at the outfit in shock, then burst into giggles. "Oh my goodness, I don't think even my brothers would do that! Though Dad might, were he not too embarrassed to approach the subject of jammies. Along with the subject of undergarments, the subject of boys, and the subject of things girls do with boys." Rolling her eyes, Hannah grinned and rushed back to the living room, flopping on the couch. "And yes, Megs," she answered a beat later, "the delivery boy is adorable! I order pizza every Friday night and he's yet to catch on."
"Wow. What an outfit." Megan said, her eyes wide open. She'd never had anything like it and was glad that she did her own shopping. "He probably thought he was doing such a nice thing, Suse. Come to think of it my brothers wouldn't do such a thing, though dad probably would if Grammy hadn't had a talk with him." Megan snickered. "I think all fathers are like that, Han." Her smile got bigger at the mention of the delivery boy. "Excellent! He's a poor bloke for not catching on, though."
Unceremoniously pushing the garment back into her bag, Susan followed Hannah into the living room and sat down cross-legged on the floor in front of the couch. "You should be grateful," she told her. "My dad actually tried to give me The Talk." She said it in such a way you could almost hear the capital letters. "But enough of that, tell us more about this delivery boy. Do you know his name? More importantly, does he know yours?" She exchanged a look with Megan. Silly as the subject was, right now they all needed a conversation about something light-hearted and fun, and Susan could do with some old-fashioned gossip.
It felt strange, talking about boys. Hannah hadn't done so in quite a while, really, not since she'd squealed girlishly over her new boyfriend. But that was then, and she couldn't stay caught up on Teddy forever. Things had changed in the last several months, and she should have just been grateful that they were friends. "His name's Alex," she told them, placing a sly grin on her face. "And I'm not sure if he knows my name. Rather, I'm not sure if he remembers my name. We went to primary school together, actually." She just hadn't expected Alex to grow up to be so...well, cute! She pulled her knees to her chest, considering how she could get herself to talk to him.
"Fathers just should not give 'the talk' whatsoever," She thanked Helga that her father never bothered. "Alex is a nice name. Oh really, you went to primary together? Your name is probably buried somewhere in that head of his," Megan said reassuringly. "I can't wait to see him and thus approve of him if anything were to ever come about, you know?" In the back of her mind, Megan felt a little guilty that she didn't feel so down about the things going on. It just wasn't like her to be like that.
"Oh, really?" echoed Susan, pleasantly surprised by this development. So he knew her already. That was promising. Susan knew Hannah probably wasn't looking for a boyfriend at the moment, especially after the whole Teddy episode, but nonetheless it was fun to speculate about how to get them together. Anything but thinking about her own love life, which, let's face it, was rather depressing. She'd never even been kissed before. "Megan's right," she said. "If he already knows you, chances are big he's noticed you as well."
Hannah glanced away from the pair of them, a shy blush creeping into her cheeks. "Oh, I doubt that. He hasn't seen me since I was a little kid in overalls and pigtails. I think the last time we talked it was so I could fawn over his comic books. Probably doesn't even remember, or else he'd recognize the name Abbott, don't you think?" Besides, it was too soon. Wasn't it? Then again, she wasn't the one slipping off on Greek holidays. She wasn't jealous, exactly. She really did want the best for Teddy, whatever he chose. But how long was the appropriate amount of time to wait? He'd said he needed time and well... Sighing, she shook her head and looked back to the pair of them with a grin. "Besides, I believe we have movies to watch! Now, my magic friends, you have choices between the muggle sleepover classics. I've got Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, Dirty Dancing, Grease, and Clueless. Pick a couple, ladies, and I will order the pizza from the adorable Mr. Alex."
Megan laughed. "Oh, poor Hannah. You know, there could be loads of other Abbotts, so maybe he doesn't think you are that Hannah Abbott. Probably used to seeing you with pigtails and overalls. We'll just have to fix it so that he does know that it is you. Don't know how, though." As she listened to the options of movies, she couldn't decide what she wanted to see. They all sounded interesting. "Um. I pick The Breakfast Club. But I'd like to watch them all."
"Ooh," said Susan, sitting up straight as an idea came to her. "I know! How about..." she looked from Megan to Hannah to see if she had their attention, "... we show him the new and improved Hannah Abbott? We could have a bit of a makeover." Susan wasn't typically interested in such things as makeup and clothes, but it seemed tonight had really invoked the girly side of her that didn't usually come out to play. But Susan wouldn't be Susan if she wasn't concerned about forcing Hannah into something, so she quickly added, "Just for fun, nothing serious. And only if you want to." The movie titles didn't mean anything to her, and so Susan simply nodded along with Megan, before frowning. "Grease? What an odd name. It's not a movie about oil, is it?"
Hannah giggled at Susan's comment. "No, no, Grease is this really fabulous old movie set in the 1950s in America and this girl and this guy fall in love over summer holiday and then wind up, completely by chance, going to the same school for their last year. It's got music and dancing and the corniest plot I've ever watched, but it's just brilliant to sing along to. We can probably get that one in, too, after The Breakfast Club." Because as far as she was concerned, it wasn't a fun sleepover unless they were up half the night. Susan's other comment, though, the one about a makeover, made her blush furiously. "We could. Do a makeover, I mean. If you guys wanted. We could do you, too, for fun and all. Maybe he'll notice you guys instead!"
"That is a relief. The title sounded interesting, but why call it Grease?" Megan had been wondering why anything would be called that. "Let's watch it next because that movie sounds like a lot of fun!" She couldn't help but laugh at Hannah and her blushing. "Hannah, don't you want to be noticed too? I think makeovers would be fun, even though I am terrible at those kind of things." Megan knew that Hannah had to be thinking of Teddy. She still didn't exactly understand what happened between them. Maybe a makeover would help feel a little bit better, let her have some fun.
"That sounds like a really nice movie," Susan commented. It sounded like one of those romance novels she always hid in her underwear drawer while she was at Hogwarts in case someone would comment on them. A girl had to get her romance fix from somewhere, after all. Relieved the other two girls didn't think her suggestion was ridiculous, she nodded without properly realising she would have to wear make up as well. She made a face at Hannah. "I really doubt it. But it'll be fun, so why not." Suddenly a rather important detail occurred to her. "Wait, do we even have something we can use for a makeover?" Her sister had a whole shrine full of makeup attributes, but Susan wasn't exactly planning on going back home and bribing Rae to give them some.
For that, Hannah grinned widely. "Of course we do, silly! It's a sleepover and I promised you lot we'd do it the muggle way, and I meant it!" This part she could handle. While she hadn't exactly planned on using said makeover to get herself a date, she had planned ahead to actually do them. Leaning over the arm of the couch, she pulled our two large canvas bags. "Having two older sisters was bound to work in my favour one day!" she declared, and pushed the bags towards her friends. They were each packed full of Esther and Miriam's leftover cosmetics from before they'd moved out. Eyeshadows, lipsticks, blushers, mascaras, powders, and things even Hannah didn't know how to use filled the bag to the top. "I also stopped by Tops and bought some face masks and things to do our nails with. Tonight, ladies, we will be girls." She giggled, despite herself. "Even if for the last seven years we've sort of forgotten how."
"Wow!" Megan had never so much makeup in her life. "That is a lot! Hannah, I don't know if I know how to be a girl," Megan giggled. She only had a younger sister and she'd rather play in the dirt more than anything so makeup wasn't a concern for her. "Older sisters does seem to be an advantage. You didn't have to pay for all of that." Megan really couldn't get over how much makeup there was from Hannah's two older sisters. Too bad Clare wouldn't get anything like this from her.
Susan couldn't keep her mouth from dropping at the sight before her. "Sweet Merlin, Hannah. If I didn't know better, I'd think you were planning to introduce us to the delivery boy all along!" Reaching in one of the bags, she pulled out an eyelash curler and turned it around in her hand. "What is this? It looks like some sort of torture device." Giggling, Susan opened and shut it a few times, the snapping sound cutting through the air. "Tell me where your pizza is, or say goodbye to your toes," she said in a quasi rough voice that, instead of making her sound dangerous, made it seem like she had a very severe throat ache.
"Older sisters would've been more of an advantage if they'd showed me how to use half of this stuff!" Hannah reminded Megan, and giggled at Susan's torture. "Now, Susan, we want him to think we're pretty, not demonic. Or...ill." Wrinkling her nose, she giggled again due to Susan's efforts to sound scary. "He'll just burst out laughing, declare us all insane, and take off. And find a new job, somewhere safe and sound and not filled with insanity." Ugh, jobs. She needed one of those, didn't she? Megan and Susan both had them, and amazing ones at that. Her NEWTs had been about as expected, average in most subjects, not bad at all in a couple, and surprisingly well in Charms, all things and breakdowns considered. "Maybe they're hiring. Dad'll teach me to drive the car, I bet."
"When you put it that way, I guess that makes sense." Megan could not help but laugh at Susan and the eyelash curler. "It looks like it clamps something or other. Maybe it would be best to avoid it all together." She found herself nodding in agreement. "He might still declare us insane if he found out we were witches. I'd rather not have that happen anyway. We don't want to scare off cute delivery boys," she said, shaking her head and trying to say it with a straight face. "I think pizza would be wasted on you, Hannah, dear. You could so much more than a muggle girl can. Though, driving a car sounds like an awful lot of fun."
Eyeing the eyelash curler wistfully, Susan put it back into the bag. "Yes you're probably right. If we don't know what it does, it probably isn't very important anyway. Right?" Shifting to find a more comfortable sitting position, Susan swiftly changed the subject. "Besides, we have more important things to worry about. Like what kind of pizza we want." All this talk about pizza and delivery boys had made her hungry. "I'm sure we won't need any help scaring him off in any case," she then said with a smile. She could just imagine his face when he arrived to bring their pizza only to be confronted with three girls who looked like a bag (or two) of makeup had exploded all over them. Hopefully Hannah knew enough about applying the stuff to make them look at least halfway decent. "You could do so much more than that. I'm sure you'll find out what you want to do eventually, Han. Didn't that book you got for your birthday help?"
Hannah sighed, considering Susan's words. "A little," she commented. "But not much that a witch would do. I found plenty of fun muggle jobs with it, but none that I have the education for." But a delivery driver would only take a license. "And he promised to teach me at some point anyway, see?" Still. It did sound terribly boring in comparison to a reserve player for a famous team or a Healer at the most prestigious institution the wizard world had to offer. Absently, she pulled out a tube of lipstick, bright pink in colour, and giggled. "This looks like something off of some fairytale princess. Some day my prince will come, indeed!" Maybe she'd write children's books. She'd get Derek to do the illustrations, too, maybe that would cheer him up some.
Megan went over to Hannah and gave her a hug. "You'll find something that you are completely qualified for. I know it! Find something that interests you and go for it!" She felt sorry for her, and a little guilty that she was trying two career paths to find the one that was right for her. "I think princesses are the only muggle things I can actually remember from my childhood. Here, you should put it on, Hannah." Megan heard her stomach rumble. "First, I think we should order pizza or else I'll have to eat some sweets before dinner."
Susan could see where Hannah was coming from, but she would hate having to see her waste her talents like that. She was sure her perfect job existed somewhere. They just hadn't found it yet. "I'll keep my eyes and ears open for you, yeah?" she said, giving Hannah a comforting smile, before grinning at Megan. "I agree. We can't think on an empty stomach." She eyed the lipstick with interest. "That colour is positively ghastly, though. It reminds me of Umbridge." Rummaging around in the bags, she pulled out a lipstick in a much deeper pink. "Here. I bet this colour will look great on you." Selecting a dark red lipstick herself, she began to apply it, pursing her lips into a tiny mirror to survey the result.
Smiling at both of her friends, Hannah nodded. "Oh, I'm sure we'll look better once we're well fed, too. After all, boys don't like skeletal girls who are being starved because their mate is too shy to pick up the phone!" She applied the lipstick Susan had handed her and snuck a peek in the handheld mirror Susan was holding. "Much better. Here, Megs." She handed over a neutral brown colour before getting up to grab the portable phone. "Besides which, there's nothing wrong with sweets before dinner, you two! It's not a party unless we're stuffed."
"Ew. I don't want to be like a skeleton! Feed me, Hannah!" Megan took the lipstick that Hannah was holding out to her. "That shade looks good on you, both of you. Do you think this is really my colour?" She asked eying the brown. "Don't you think something more green or yellow would look good?" Megan was sure that she actually wouldn't, but who cared? She certainly didn't as she put on the brown coloured one. "Hmm. I think I actually like this one," Megan said as she examined her lips in a mirror. "It looks like I'm not wearing any at all!"
Susan smacked her lips into the mirror. "I don't know. It's very red, don't you think?" She mostly associated red lips with femme fatales, and Susan wouldn't exactly count herself among that category. While Hannah was busy talking into the phone -- Susan still thought it was a bit of an odd way of communicating -- she hopped up from the floor and moved over to sit next to Megan. "Here. I'll do your eyes," she said, reaching for a box with different colours of eye-shadow. "I think the greens and yellows will be much better suited there."
"Right, one all cheese and one everything," Hannah confirmed into the phone. Then, with a sly look towards her friends, she asked as casually as she could manage, "who's delivering tonight? Oh, really? Brilliant, he's...always on time. Right. Bradford Court. Thanks." Hanging up, she bounded back over to where the other girls were sitting and watched as Susan applied eyeshadow to Megan's eyes. "Ooh, green will make them really stand out, won't it? That's what Miriam always said, she has brown eyes." She leaned against the couch's side, her ankles crossed in front of her. "And I like that red on you, Suse. It makes you look..." Hot would probably scare the shy Hufflepuff off, so Hannah smiled. "Outstanding."
"It may be red, but it looks great! Okay, Susan." Megan shut her eyes so Susan could put the eye shadow on. She only half paid attention to Hannah on the phone. Megan wondered if she'd be able to use one, but doubted it since there hadn't ever been a phone in her grandparents house when they moved in oh so many years ago. "That is good to know. I didn't know colours could bring out eye colour. What colours do you two want for your eyes?" Megan was finding this to be a lot of fun and she wanted to do what Susan was doing.
Concentrating on mixing the green and yellow in such a way that it wouldn't look like someone had given Megan a black eye, the only reaction she gave to Hannah's conversation on the phone was a slight tilting of her lips. The lipstick felt a bit odd and sticky, and Susan had to keep herself from licking her lips in case she wiped it right off again. After a minute or two she pulled back, pretty satisfied with the result. "There. I think it looks really nice on you." Looking at Hannah for confirmation, she then shifted in her seat. Like Megan, she had brown eyes, but it seemed rather boring to pick the same colours. "I don't know. What do you think?"
"Purple," Hannah declared, reaching for a plum colour to start work on Susan. "Your eyes are a little bit lighter than Meg's, see." Well, it sounded really brilliant when she said it. Who knew if it would actually work out, but it seemed fun to play with the colours at least. "I think I should maybe go with a really dark blue? Or brown? Oh, or what about pink?" There were so many options! She knew if she'd lived at home, she'd have learned all of this with her sisters when her mother taught those minor things. But then, she wouldn't have these friends, either, would she? She swept a small brush through the pot and used the tip of her pinky finger to blend it on Susan's eyelid, the way she saw people do on the telly.
Megan looked in the little mirror they had. "Ooh! It's very nice. Thank you, Susan! I think purple will look good on you." Megan dug through the different colours of eye shadow that Hannah was saying. She ended up pulling out more than the dark blue, brown, and pink. While Hannah was working on Susan's eyes, Megan held up a colour and compared it to Hannah. "I think the pink would look nice on you. If it doesn't, there are lots of other choices and you can try them all." She looked at Hannah's work. "I think that looks amazing, Suse," she said handing the mirror over to the two of them.
That sounded very reasonable, right up until Hannah starting naming practically every colour in the box. Trying to keep her head as still as she possibly could, Susan closed her eyes, resisting the temptation to sneak a peek while Hannah was working, because that would most likely wouldn't be a very good idea. "Pink is good," she mumbled, trying to speak while moving her lips as little as possible. She'd read somewhere that a human face had... well, she didn't really remember how many muscles, but there were a lot of them, regardless. She didn't want to move the wrong one. Breathing out somewhat in relief when Hannah was done, she studied herself in the mirror. "That's not too bad, actually!"
"Of course it's not, silly," Hannah told her playfully, rolling her eyes. "You look fabulous! It's almost a shame to stay in tonight." She turned to Megan, who was holding the pink. "Promise not to poke my eye out?" she scolded, but her voice was teasing. "Oh, gosh, and then there's mascara and eyeliner! Let me tell you, if you don't poke your eyes out with those, you're official experts. I tried it myself the other day and looked like Bulstrode had punched me!"
"Oh, I will," Megan said playfully as she took the brush and pretended that she was going to poke an eye out. She wasn't going to, but it was fun to tease. "Do we have to use those? I think its easy enough to get this stuff on, but don't your eyes have to be open when putting those on?" Megan asked as she started applying the pink to Hannah's eyes. "At least its all better now, Han." Now, she could see how putting on make up was fun, she just didn't think that she could do this on a daily basis. It didn't take her long to finish and she paused for a moment to appreciate her handiwork. "I think this looks amazing on you. Just perfect!"
"Well, I'm not planning on going out like this," said Susan with a bit of a laugh. Fabulous as the other two girls might think she looked, she would be way too embarrassed. Besides, they still had lots of movies to watch. Watching as Megan worked on Hannah, she frowned. "Maybe we should forget about the mascara, then. 'Punched by Millicent' isn't exactly the look we're going for tonight. Unless you want Mr Delivery Boy to sweep you away towards the hospital!"
Hannah gave a sly grin and shrugged. "As long as he's sweeping me away somewhere, I don't see what the problem is! Of course, we could invite her over and make her up. I've the feeling it's the only way we'd ever get a black eye on her!" Leaning into the mirror, she grinned at Megan's efforts. "It really does look sort of nice, doesn't it? I really should do this more often, I guess." Maybe if she had, she wouldn't have lost... Well, no, back to the delivery boy. Much safer to think about some innocent muggle who remembered her with pigtails from primary.
"That'd be a laugh. A frightening thought too at Millicent wearing makeup." Out of the Slytherins, Megan steered far away from Millicent. She may be a Beater on the pitch, but that didn't mean she was good at defending herself, or others, off it. "I still think it would be fun to go out, but I think I'd rather watch movies tonight. If we all had the time, I think we all should do this more often."
Susan rolled her eyes. "She would probably think we were torturing her. And well, with the look of most of this stuff, I couldn't really blame her." Getting up from the couch, she walked towards the window and peeked outside. "I don't think he's here yet. Come on, if we hurry we still have time to do some dressing up." The combination of red lipstick and the old pair of pants she was wearing at the moment probably looked rather ridiculous, and although Susan usually steered far away from dresses, this occasion seemed to call for one.
"Come on, then," Hannah urged, getting to her feet and heading towards the stairs. "We're all about the same size, and I've got a few things in my closet that my sisters have been trying to get me to wear for years. But if I'm only half-dressed when the doorbell rings, you're the ones coming down!"
