WHAT: Making new friends.
WHERE: The Leaky
WHEN: This afternoon
RATING: PG
STATUS: Done

Teddy already felt the effects of being an adult son of a Death Eater. Granted, he had been stared at and prodded by reporters on break, but he was coming to realize that being considered an adult gave them license to his life that he hadn't counted on. He had just been forced to show his papers by some law official and was scowling as he entered the Leaky. All he wanted was some lunch. Was it really a crime? Apparently. The bitter thought clouded his face as he was shown to his seat. He peered at the menu, suddenly wishing he had just stayed home. But Kaleigh worried when he did that and the last thing he wanted was to cause her further distress. So, sighing, he forced himself to think about his food options.

Sailor was all about life, even if it was insane and sounded like some card someone would send someone for some pointless reason. Screw that, they all had some point to them. So she'd been out wasting a normal summer day. She'd enjoyed herself, but she was hungry, so she headed to Leaky, even though she did feel awkward when she ate alone. Sailor would never tell anyone the internal battle she felt when she was faced with having a meal alone. Tell her to go do anything else alone it was fine, a meal meant walking around the block a few times before heading in. When she finally got the guts she headed in and much to her very excited surprise she saw when Teddy Nott.

Heading to the table she grinned. "If it isn't the very sexy Mr. Nott." She half teased as she kissed his cheek before rounding the table and sitting across for him. "Mind if I join you?" So asking before she sat down might be good... But oh well.

Teddy hadn't missed the term she used for him in her journal, but had politely let Michael carry on about it. Teddy didn't know the girl very well, but he knew she was just a very friendly sort. A very friendly sort who made him blush...like when she called him sexy and joined his lunch. Nonetheless, Teddy was starting to realize companionship beat being a loner and so smiled and nodded. "Of course, Sailor, how are you?"

"I am a lot better now that I don't have to order lunch and sit alone." Sure Sailor didn't know him all that well, but from what she did know, she really liked and respected. Besides what girl didn't want to make a good looking guy blush? Sailor grinned at him as she reached over to bend his menu down to look at it. She knew what she'd order, but still looking as always good, she let go with in a second or two. "So, what are you doing out and about today?" She asked with a grin. Sailor knew perfectly well that Teddy probably was dealing with a lot, the least she could do was try and prove that not everyone was so narrow minded.

Honestly, Teddy was immune to the fact that girls found him attractive. He had never really registered on anyone's radar (as far as he knew, anyway) until that year and even then it had been about an emotional connection. Well, he had found Hannah quite lovely, but he wasn't so vain as to think she considered him good-looking until she got to know him, and thus, more appealing physically. Isn't that how those things worked? So, really, he took Sailor's ribbing with a big old grain of salt. "Just passing time really. I don't start work for a few weeks. You?" His eyes swept over the menu again before he made his final choice.

"I feel pointless! I have no idea what you are going to go do. I am sure you posted about it, and I bet I even commented on it, and well I spaced it. I could go look it up right now and such, but it'll take less time for me to be honest about not remembering." Sailor said grinning over at him. Past Teddy being a good looking guy, he was just a really good guy. Sailor didn't need to know him well to know that, she could read that easily enough, besides she was really big on making sure people understood there was a lot more to people than what the press or laws said... Really now.

At that, Teddy couldn't help grinning. "It's alright," he assured his new companion. "I am not exactly sure what I am meant to do. A friend's father offered me a place in his company. The MacMillans are in real estate." It was strange to list Ernie as a friend, but Teddy hoped it was finally true again. "And if you went to look it up, we'd miss this wonderful lunch, yeah?" He looked around, hoping Sailor's presence would prompt the waiter to actually serve them quickly. Teddy knew the staff had already remarked about his badge. He had heard the whispers. They weren't as secretive as they hoped.

Sailor just grinned. "Ernie and Company!" She said happy as a little shell fish. "They're great! And I am going to go with you're going to do really well. Besides you are smart and charming." Sailor didn't say it to be flirty or anything else, it was a fact to her, and she thought Teddy was a pretty cool dude. "So. Are we going to have to jump a waiter?" She asked before raising her hand as one past and saying simply to him. "We are ready to order." As he actually stopped she didn't get the chance to add what he thought, she could have said. 'Unless you are against getting a good tip which I bet you need, you could stop being rude and serve us.' Lucky speaking up allowed her to order fish and chips and Teddy to order as well.

Teddy laughed. Ordinarily, he'd have been horrified, but Sailor had the right idea. They'd have been kept waiting for ages. The waiter likely thought she was a traitor just for sitting with Teddy so it wasn't like he was worried about pleasing either of Teddy or Sailor. "You know," Teddy said when the waiter was gone, "Sitting with me doesn't bring you much luck."

Sailor stopped all her smiles and normal attitude when he said sitting with him wouldn't bring her much luck. An oddly serious look crossed her face, not a lot of people saw a serious look from her. "If I thought sitting across from you was a problem of any kind I wouldn't do it. Because people are dumb enough to believe you're bad by who you are related to or know is pathetic. You're a really good person. Don't for a second let yourself doubt that from how people react towards you." Sailor knew she was out of place, and she knew she didn't know him all that well, but screw that, she'd always gone with her gut, she was doing it now too.

A surprised expression crossed Teddy's face. It was nice to hear, especially from someone who only knew him a bit, but, still, he never expected such nice sentiment. "I appreciate that," he replied in a sincere tone, "I just don't want you get punished for something we can't control." Teddy knew people were trying to fight the Ministry, but, just then, it seemed a long way before any progress would be done.

"It's a risk I'm going to take." She said simply. "Besides, if they arrest me for having lunch with you, they'll probably end up starting another war." She said with a not so happy smile, but still half of one to hint at hopefully it was a joke. "But... I am not having a very depressing conversation with you over lunch. Got it? Good. You've got a job coming up and you've got to be ready for it!" She said grinning. "I know you'll rock at it, but we've got to get you extra ready for it !"

Teddy's lips twitched. A war over a woman...sounded familiar! Simply shaking his head at her dismissal, he picked up his water glass to take a sip. "And what about you, hmmm? You excited for seventh year?"

"I am very excited for my last year. It'll be nice to be the top of the school." She teased with a small laugh. "I won't have to force myself to be important anymore with awesome people like you not winning the favor of the crowds." Everything she'd said was really playful. She knew it, she meant it that way after all.

"Oh, yes, you had stiff competition." Teddy found himself teasing back with ease. He liked that. "Just don't burn down the place!"

Sailor gave him a very offended look, playful of course. "Do I look like I could burn down a stone castle?" A thoughtful look crossed her face. "Okay, so I could possibly find a way, but I wouldn't do that to the dear and lovely professors that would be out of work if I did!" She said nodding her head as if that solved everything.

"From what I've seen, you'd do it without even meaning to!" He was still chuckling when he waiter placed their food in front of them. Teddy waited for Sailor to start before taking a bite of his own. "Thank you for joining me," he said sincerely.

"OH!" She said clasping hr heart laughing she tried to look hurt, but it didn't work at all. Luckily she was distracted by food. "Yummy." She said digging in taking a bite before looking up at him. "Thanks for letting me join." She said just as sincerely. Besides, it couldn't hurt to make a friend right? She actually was rather enjoying her time with Teddy.

If Teddy could hear her thoughts, he'd have echoed them. He actually found himself smiling more than he had with a "stranger" in a long while. Content, he went back to his food, knowing he had made a new mate.
