Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Megan Jones and OPEN
What: Its party time!
Where: The Malfoys
When: Saturday night
Rating: Heck if I know at the moment (So sorry that I didn't realize that it wasn't showing up)

Megan had been thinking about the Malfoy party all week, just to make sure that she would remember to go. She had absolutely no problem with going, even though a lot of people had reservations about going. Plus, she'd get a chance to see some of her friends whom she knew she wouldn't see for quite a while after the summer. There actually seemed to be a lot of people at the party and Megan was ready to join in. She was glad to have been invited.

Pansy was bored. Terribly so, actually. Tracey was busy making doe eyes at Teddy, Daphne was her typical, perfect, social butterfly self, and Draco was, well, the host of the party. She could only kidnap him for so long before some relative or friend would want to drag him off. She really did consider escaping up to his room and hiding, if not in some naughty way, at least in a 'sneak in a nap' sort of way. But her own mother had lectured her about being proper and making appropriate appearances and she'd stayed downstairs, abeit reluctantly.

At that moment, she felt like she couldn't breathe. It was bad enough there were so many people, but all of the ones around her seemed to be ones she didn't know or worse, didn't like. Muggleborns, halfbloods, even their halfbreed professor had seen himself fit to show. Brilliant. With a roll of her eyes, she made her way to the refreshment table. If Draco really loved her, he'd still love her fat, right.

It would've been just fine, too, had some miserable Hufflepuff not nearly killed her on her way there. "Do you mind?" she snapped in annoyance. "Maybe if we gave you a broom you could avoid running into people."

Megan walked around, admiring the Malfoy Manor as she did so. It was gorgeous and very large. The place was so large Megan figured that two or three of her grandparents' cottage could fit into it. She came extremely close to running into a Slytherin who did not look too happy about it. It was Pansy Parkinson and seemed so like her to say such a thing.

Normally, Megan was too nice a person to take insults to heart, but clearly Pansy did not know Megan and that statement did settle well with her. For once, Megan did not want to even try being nice to her. Plus, Pansy had been quite rude to her friends and she was not going to stand for it. "So sorry," Megan responded sarcastically. "I don't need a broom to avoid people, though to get away from you? Sounds like a bloody good idea."

Ordinarily, the girl wouldn't have bothered her. She had a better bloodline than about half the room at that time and even had celebrity connections. But Pansy was in less than a good mood and those shoes Megan had nearly stepped on cost more than Pansy herself was worth.

"By all means, don't let me stop you," Pansy said in a sugary sweet tone, stepping back to motion as if Megan should keep walking. "Honestly, Jones, you're becoming as big a clod as Longbottom. What sort of things do you breathe down there in those greenhouses? Or maybe it's true what they say about Hufflepuffs being perpetual gillyweed smokers?"

Megan rolled her eyes. She thought about just walking away, which was probably a better plan than what she was about to do. "I am not a clod and neither is Neville. The greenhouses? Well, the greenhouses are full lovely smells, like roses and daisies and nothing disgusting like I'm sure that the dungeons smelled of." That might hit a nerve with Parkinson. "Not true whatsoever. We're less likely to be gillyweed smokers than you are of getting that look of stupidity off of your face."

Instead of hitting a nerve, Pansy only giggled. The dungeons? Smell? Honestly, had this girl never sat through potions? She typically left a cauldron simmering in her room, and when she thought about it, the common room, too, full of rosemary and jasmine and vanilla, meant to combat any damp, stale smells that might be caused by being so far underground. "Oh, bugger, you're really something, aren't you, Jones? All sunshine and light and bubbles. What's next, going to try and hex me into a daisy?" She smirked, shaking her hair off of her face. Maybe she should've curled it like Tracey had done, but she hadn't wanted Draco to think she'd make any extra effort just for him.

"Not everything is light and bubbly and I don't expect it to be. Besides, I don't hex people. I'm above that." Megan retorted. Why did she have to have a run in with Parkinson of all people? There were loads of other Slytherins that she got along with a whole lot better. Megan was starting to think that it might have been in her best interest to walk away, but instead, she continued to stand there.

Which was more than irritating Pansy. "Look, don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled we get to play together and all, but don't you have somewhere else you could be? Anywhere else?" In other words, somewhere that wasn't in her way.

"I don't have anywhere to be. If you've got a problem with that, then why don't you just move?" Megan said politely and sweetly. Clearly Parkinson was annoyed with her, but she didn't care since this cow was very much annoying her.

"Oh for Merlin's sake." Pansy rolled her eyes, the annoyance obvious in her face. Why were people so dense? And why had Draco's mother felt the need to invite anyone and everyone? These people just didn't belong with their kind! "You know what? I think I will. I don't need this." Even Draco wasn't worth this nonsense. Spinning on her heel, she marched back in the other direction, determined to pry Teddy and Tracey apart or yank Daphne off for some much needed plotting. This was complete nonsense.
