It had been about seven months since the new laws had come out and taken its effect on Leanne. It had been frustrating and exhausting seven months at that. Since then, she had become split on whether it was best to continue working for the Ministry or finding some way out of the country. The atmosphere in the Department of International Cooperation had changed drastically, leaving Leanne lonely and feeling very insecure about her position. Her colleagues didn’t look at her nor talk to her when they walked by her. Conversations were never held near her and whenever she would walk by, they abruptly stopped. It was all because she was the daughter of a Death Eater and she was nothing like her father. These people had known her and liked her prior to the laws and even offered sympathy when her father was sent to Azkaban. It had become a terrible work environment. At least, now, Leanne knows that she isn’t quite so alone in her thinking, but still she finds it rather difficult how other people can see her, and others, in this situation.

But on this particular Friday, Leanne was quite grateful to be leaving work early, grateful that she had a good reason to leave early. It had been a while since she had actually seen Katie and was glad that she would get a chance to see and visit with her over lunch. There was only so much that could be conveyed in the journals, but it made pretending so much easier, not that she had planned on pretending how she felt around Katie. Besides, she knew she’d be happier today just because she was going to see a friend.

Katie wasn't exactly sure why she was so worried about Leanne, even though she had an idea of what was bothering her friend, she still wasn't going to assume anything until she told her. Katie wasn't going to assume anything. Instead she was going to go meet her friend at the Three Broomsticks.

Katie had practice early that day but she had told her fellow players that she had something to do and couldn't do anything else. She was meeting Leanne for lunch.

So she was running a bit late, but she didn't mean to be. Instead she dashed in looking around for Leanne. When she finally saw her friend she headed to her wrapping her arms around her before saying a quick. "Hello. I am so sorry I was running late. I was just a little bit slowed at practice. How are you?"

Leanne hadn't been waiting long when Katie showed up and was taken by surprise when she was given a bit of a hug. She hadn't expected that. "Hey, Katie." Leanne greeted her. "That's perfectly fine. How is team working out?"

She didn't really know how to answer that question. Actually, she knew how to answer it since it hadn't changed right after the new laws went into effect. "I've been better. Every day just seems to be the exact same as the day previous."

"Really good. But I'm starting to feel like I don't really have a life anymore. I do like it though." She said smiling. Katie was slowly becoming well known.

Katie didn't like seeing her friend looking so upset, it was kind of easy to tell that things weren't okay. Katie knew that before they got their. As she sat down she looked at her with a puzzled look. "You shouldn't be putting yourself though it. You deserve better." Katie said honestly. Katie had nearly died because of the war, but she never thought innocent people should be punished for just being related to those who weren't good.

"That's good. I think its important that you like what you do because what would it matter if you didn't?" Leanne told Katie. It even applied to her, despite the current work environment, Leanne enjoyed her work.

Leanne shrugged her shoulders. "I know, but what other choices do I have?" Leanne felt that Mrs. Nott had been right. The Ministry had taken everything away from her and her mother, but she still had her job. "I've heard that the Ministry is not going to hire those fresh out of school, so I should be lucky to have my job. They haven't taken it away from me yet."

"You're smart." Katie said simply. She was worried about Leanne. She hated he fact that her friend had to go through it. It made her want to do something about it. Katie might be able to right? She was starting to gain some importance in the Quidditch world. Well a new player, nothing special.

"You deserve better. And honestly don't let them take it from you. I might not read any of it right.... But I think you should maybe look outside too maybe... why not right? It can't hurt?" Katie didn't want to be rude, but she wanted Leanne out of the Ministry if they were going to treat her like that, they didn't deserve her.

Leanne wasn't so sure. She was smart enough for her current job, but for others? She knew Katie was right, she should look elsewhere. It really couldn't hurt to look. Leanne truly hoped that if she did find a different job, they would treat her like she should be treated. "No, it couldn't hurt at all," Leanne replied. "I guess I should take another look at my NEWT scores. See if they can get me anywhere else."

"I don't think it is all about NEWT scores. It's about who you are too." She said as she commented that water was just fine. Her attention wasn't on anything to order. She was more worried about people who people were though. But than again you didn't need many NEWTs to play Quidditch it was about skill, and who someone was not test scores. Katie thought life should be more like that.

"What else would you be interested in doing?"

"I know, but there are some things that require a NEWT in something." Leanne didn't say it, she couldn't help thinking that she needed something that would earn her about the same as she was getting now. And she had no idea what she wanted to do. Leanne asked for a butterbeer after Katie asked for water.

"I honestly have no clue. At one point I thought about being a Healer, I do have the right NEWTs for that, but I don't know how I'd handle taking care of people." Or how the other staff would treat me, Leanne added to herself.

"Well maybe you can find a private company or something?" She suggested thinking about it, she really wasn't sure if she could be much help, one thing Katie hated was to see Leanne upset or treated the way she was being treated. It was really annoying to her.

"Maybe you could go to one of the talks they have about becoming a healer - they do have those right? Well if they do you could at least go look?" She said thinking about it, although she did think Leanne would be better off away from anything that the ministry was too involved with. "What about one of the Greengrass companies?"

"Probably," Leanne agreed. There was probably something out there for her, someplace she wouldn't be judged. Still, she felt a little conflicted about leaving her job. She liked the job. "I might discuss it with my mother, she'll probably know of some place that's better than the Ministry."

Leanne nodded her head. "They do. I guess it wouldn't be so bad to go and sit in on one of those. See if it is a good switch or not. I hear that the pay there is pretty decent." She had heard of the Greengrass companies in passing, but didn't know what exactly they entailed. "Do you have any information on the Greengrass companies? I don't know what they do exactly."

Katie shrugged. "You should work someone where that you are happy, not somewhere that you feel uncomfortable. I understand that, or at least I think I do. I don't really, but I just want you to be happy." Katie said softly.

Katie ran a hand through her hair as she thought. "I don't know much past the passing thing, but I do know that they own a lot, and they have some random properties. They've got hands in a lot of the business world. I guess they're more money making rather than older money from what one of the share holders in my team said, but I don't know enough to be helpful. I can look into it."

"I was happy before all of this happened. The job itself is still alright. If all of this cleared up, I'd probably be happy again. I'll see how it all goes." Leanne told Katie. "Thanks, Katie."

"I'd appreciate it if you did, Katie. It means a lot to me." Leanne didn't really want to talk about it anymore. This wasn't going to solve itself in one afternoon, though it was a nice start. Leanne decided it was time to change the subject. "Other than Quidditch, anything else exciting going on in your life?"

"Yeah, not a problem. I'm happy to help." Katie said smiling, she was happy to help when ever she could. Katie shrugged when Leanne asked her about life.

Katie shrugged slightly. "It is okay. I don't really have much interesting going on. Ali and I go out, but we are both so busy with Quidditch so other than that my life is just about Quidditch." Katie shrugged, honestly she didn't do much else anymore. She didn't make time for it. Katie hadn't really been on a date or even interested in a guy sense she broke up with Kenneth. It wasn't any secret that breaking up with Kenneth was really hard for her.
