MINISTRY UNVEILS PLANS FOR HARRY POTTER MEMORIAL
By Jacob Fairchild
The news came early yesterday evening in a statement prepared by Sr. Undersecretary to the Minister Evan Fairchild. “These plans have been in the works for some time. We have been working with his widow, Mrs. Ginny Potter, to honor his memory.” The Sr. Undersecretary went on to say that the reason for the secrecy was to surprise the friends and family of the fallen hero. Fairchild said the Ministry plans to unveil the memorial at a celebration of the life and career of the Boy Who Lived on April 4, the 10 year anniversary of his death.
The news comes just one day following a written attack on the Ministry itself by a group calling themselves ‘The Order of Truth’. The group posted fliers Sunday morning accusing the Ministry of assassinating Potter back in 2025. The Order of Truth first made a name for themselves on 6 February of this year with more unfounded accusations aimed at the Ministry, and are believed to be responsible for the demonstration in front of Gringotts on 31 January.
“These claims are nothing more than lies meant to discredit and provoke mistrust in your elected officials,” Fairchild said of the posters. “I worked with Mr. Potter in the early years of my career and still considered him a friend at the time of his death. He was a great mentor to me and I remember him fondly. His death continues to weigh heavily on this administration. We failed him.”
It is likely that this ‘Order’ seeks to align itself in the public mindset with the Order of the Phoenix, the vigilante group responsible for defeating the greatest Dark Wizard of all time, Lord Voldemort in 1998. However, the key component missing from such a comparison is that of a clear, evil threat. Whereas the Order of the Phoenix responded to the threat wielded by one Dark Wizard and his followers, this so-called Order of Truth operates in the shadows in the hopes of bringing fear instead of hope.
