teddy lupin is too old for this shit. (barbae) wrote in resurge,
Looking back on the last nine and a half months, Teddy could say having a pregnant wife was okay. It was honestly great compared to how muggles seemed to show it on television and in film, at the least. He wouldn't call it great, even if Victoire would. Weird, maybe? Not in a metaphorical sense, either, but a literal "wow she's literally growing a human in her stomach what the fuck" kind of weird that usually only comes to mind when one is high (he was not high). He would rate it a solid 3/5. He'd probably have a different opinion were it him growing a person.
The witnessing of birth and the screaming he would rate 1/5. It was 2028, you'd think the most basic part of human life would have improved by now, particularly by wizards, but no. He did agree that home birth was less stressful than if they'd had to floo to the hospital, or if they'd been muggles and driven there. God. No.
Teddy felt exhausted just witnessing the whole ordeal, but when it was finally over he was thrilled. Because it was over, and because they had a tiny little person made of their genes. It was like they'd made a perfect omelet, except better because babies are not omelets.
"I love both of you," he would have opted for you, too but he wasn't 100% sure where her words were directed and because he loved them both.
Teddy had heard tv and film dads say that they loved their children once they were born, personally Teddy had already loved the tiny baby girl the instant Victoire had told him she was pregnant. But he had to admit, that was different than seeing her in Victoire's arms, all tiny with a certain potato-like quality that Teddy would never mention. A beautiful potato. She was perfect, and Teddy felt an overwhelming need to protect her, forever. It was a very fatherly-like feeling, he felt.
"I suppose we can't name her Perfect Beautiful Angel Baby," he mused. It seemed fitting, but long-winded.
