Up until that moment, Victoire's happiest day had been her wedding day, as cliche as that sounded. The day she'd finally gotten to marry the love of her life, the moment she'd known for certain that all the wishy-washy, back-and-forth, fear of commitment rubbish had gone away, that had previously been the happiest she'd ever been. Other things had come close, of course, but nothing better. Until she saw Teddy holding their child. He was so enraptured by the tiny girl, so clearly in love after only a couple hours. That was her new happiest moment. Because they were finally a family.
"My mother would be furious, you know," she responded softly, though Teddy didn't actually sound like he was serious. Even still, Victoire wanted him to get a vote in the baby's name, though he was right in thinking that if all his votes were for eclectic and silly names, he wasn't going to get much of a say in the final decision--not because she was going to be a dictator about it, but because it was likely that she felt stronger about not having a child named Princess or Perfect Beautiful Angel Baby than he did about her having that name.
As much as she loved the idea of simply sitting there and watching her husband hold their daughter, Victoire was ready for a nap--or to at least lie down. Fighting a yawn, she settled against his arm, slipped her hand into the crook of his elbow, and said, "We should let everyone else meet her and take the opportunity to get a little rest." Thank Merlin for the midwife who would be staying with them a few days to answer questions and make sure they were able to get enough rest while they adjusted.
