Hermione smiled warmly at his comment. She certainly hoped that she could do a good job in cheering him up. That was what girlfriends were meant to do after all and she strove to be the best girlfriend she could possibly be. Her perfectionism was borne from years of torment but she'd made use of it in her work and personal life. They were both learning how to be in a relationship, but that was part of what made it so easy for her to open up to him. She wasn't afraid that he would mock, belittle, or hate her for trying her best.
Dinner went by smoothly and she moved to get up, but Severus was already there, picking up the dishes and bringing them to the sink. She was rooted to her chair for a moment, surprised and touched by the gesture. She'd always felt like she needed to do things for him, to show him that she cared. At work, they were equals that could divide their own work, but at home, Hermione wanted to give him a chance to relax and unwind. It felt like he didn't get the opportunity to do that very often. "Thank you," she said softly before getting up. A quick wave of her wand shrunk the pot the stew was in and another wave put a preservation charm on it. Once that was taken care of, she walked up behind Severus and wrapped her arms around his waist. "Do you have any pressing matters to attend to before work tomorrow morning?" she asked.
