Hermione didn't notice what she'd said, nor did she even register that there might be anything odd about it. It was simply exactly what she felt, so nothing seemed amiss to her. She laughed at his quip and replied, "Your memory is just fine. It's your mind reading skills that are a bit rusty," she teased back more than comfortable with their camaraderie. They got along really well for a couple that worked together, though Hermione attributed that to their similar personalities. Occasionally, they'd steal kisses at work, but those instances were always few and far between - and generally happened on Saturdays when they had their half day.
"That's all I can ask," she managed to reply just a moment before his lips met hers. She kissed him gently because they weren't in any rush tonight. Besides, dinner was on the stove and it would be ready shortly. He wasn't about to distract her enough to ruin her stew. Her hands slid into his hair at the back, lazily playing with the strands at the nape of neck like she always did and she didn't stop even when he pulled back slightly. "I'm all about thorough research," she replied, leaning in for another kiss, this one a bit more heated than the last.
