It was late in the evening when Albus approached the Apothecary. He had been putting off the meeting for a few days now which wasn't like him. He had never known himself to avoid a confrontation before, not unless it was healthier for him to stay away and recent events proved to him that even then he was incapable of keeping his distance. With Severus, however, there was an under current of something more between them - something Albus should be painfully aware of and yet, he felt that the true cause was just out of reach, as aloof as a forgotten word that sits just on the tip of your tongue. He had his own suspicions as to what caused the cool, icy words that the man shared with him and there was little in the histories he had read that disproved his theory. With each day that passed it seemed more and more plausible that he and Severus had shared a more intimate relationship than most of the others he had met in the village, save Gellert. If that was the case, and Albus had somehow wronged Severus in some way, then he felt it was only necessary to make things right. He was beginning to suspect that Putus Village allowed a person to correct any past (and future) mistakes. It was time that Albus began to make amends.
Albus knocked on the door of Putus Apothecary, a bit surprised to see that the door to the shop was still opened. He had intentionally come just after closing, wanting to catch the man on semi-neutral ground. The shop was Severus' own so the familiar surroundings would put the man at ease and yet it wasn't as personal as arriving on Severus' doorstep. Albus thought it would be the perfect setting, giving Severus just enough edge so as not to feel ambushed or backed into a corner.
"Hello?" Albus called, opening the door to the shop and stepping into the darkened building. "Severus? Are you in?"
