Octavius nodded a confirmation. It had been something that stuck with him from the conversation with Lavender. Many things that Lavender had said stuck with him but the knowledge that he had a daughter was something at that was truly jarring.
"At least I'm not a complete failure like I expect that I would be," he commented with a grin. What did he know about kids? He got along with them. When he was able to visit family and visit with his nieces and nephews, he believed he got on well with them. Raising a child was completely different experience he would assume.
"And how are you fairing since coming here?" he asked, eager to get the attention off him for a bit. He didn't know what to say about having a kid. He remembered how Lavender had been so disappointed when he didn't know anything about their friendship. He got the impression that Malachi wouldn't be as crushed as Lavender. At least not over the same way.
