Malachi had put Evie to bed awhile ago and rested in the living room. He was reading a book he'd gotten from one of the local bookstores after he'd gotten a few books to read to Evie. It was an okay book and certainly beat doing nothing. All he wanted to do was relax right now. But he'd rather have things to paint with. It was his mission for the next day, to find a place that sold canvas and paint. If anything couldn't he 'petition' for it since these people claimed he could 'petition' for what he needed? He wasn't sure how that worked or what that was limited to.
When there was a knock on his door, he jumped. He hadn't had anyone actually come and visit him the whole time he was here so hearing the noise break the silence was just odd. Closing his book, he got up and walked to the door.
He blinked at Mr. Pepper. The man was younger - many years younger - but there was no doubt in his mind this was Mr. Pepper. Lavender had said he was in the village, but she hadn't said the man was a younger version than the one they knew. He'd have no idea who either of them were. "Good evening," he said pleasantly, smiling at the man.
