"I've no idea why he might have brought us here," Severus answered, frowning with a shake of his head. "Other than to amuse himself or your cousin, perhaps," he added after a moment, with a slight shrug. He paused for a sip of tea, until he remembered how dreadful the tea was -- and it seemed to be getting worse as it cooled. Then he only pretended to have another sip before setting the cup aside.
"If he'd really wanted to change the future, I imagine he would have brought me here, and not replaced me with a double. Because as I understand it, my role in the war was rather pivotal, and the Dark Lord likely wouldn't have been defeated without my contribution." Though he stopped just short of declaring himself a 'hero' ... whatever that was supposed to mean. If it applied to him, at least, it was a very loose definition of the word indeed.
