Close to Christmas was the favorite season of nearly every shop keeper in Diagon Alley. Even Bones in the Water saw a jump in sales from the approaching holidays. Octavius was proud of his collection of oddities and would happily display them to entice the passersby. Surely there would be something to catch the eye of one person. He had many acceptable gifts: Gold leaf trimmed tarot cards that were blessed by a high priestess in South America, a lucky rabbits foot that as embedded with some luck charms to enhance the luck, and of course talking shrunken heads. Though the last sale item wasn’t very popular. He had lowered the price on it at least 6 times now. They scared away buyers.
Of course what he most looked forward to this coming holiday was Diane’s return from Hogwarts. He missed his daughter. He missed her snarky attitude, their little debates. She kept him company and he was grateful for her presence.
Coming from the back room, Octavius put a box on the counter of the shop and began to go through it. It was a package he had brought from his last trip. He wasn’t even sure that he remembered what he bought.
